Please explain how Kaepernick is a cancer. That's a bit much.

I don't want the Steelers to sign him because I don't think he will help much, but the backlash against him is ridiculous.

All true. Sad but true I am afraid.

Honestly speaking, I hoped Mason would be better served to sit another year as I did say it would be two years to get a beat on him. While he did some good things during his time starting, he also has his shortcomings. Add the fact that Pittsburgh is in a playoff hunt and pulling Mason was the right decision.

I understand as the President of the Mason Rudolph you may not like this but I hope Deviln Hodges finishes strong this season. Mason needs to get refocused. Keeping him out to continue to do that will serve him better in the long run.

A cancer as in the media circus that would follow him. Makes focusing on what needs to be done much harder. It is on him because the "circus" seems more important to him than football does. Just my take on the value he would bring.

At first the backlash was ridiculous. Now he just wants to revel in it.

Kap earned the backlash. He got what he apparently wanted. Or at least what his advisors wanted.

I'm not sure cancer is the right term, then. You're talking more about the way people react to him, not what he actually does.

Still qualifies as a "locker-room cancer". Not him as a player, but his baggage.

Yep, definitely a cancer. Some people just have to correct everybody because they think they are so smart but need to get a life.

I think the word has a different connotation, but to each his own. Duke explained his point. I think the connotation of the word is too negative for that, but agree to disagree.

I think cancer better applies to people intentionally causing issues, perhaps by dragging personal issues with someone all over a message board.

    :)

There is no reason to argue about Kapernick, the Steelers didn't even send a rep to his crap show of a workout last week. They are not signing him, no team is signing him.

That would be more fair. Of course, his absence is also part of why the Steelers’ offense is such a ****show right now.

He is a cancer of a human being because he has no respect for the country he lives in and what it means to be free! He chose to use the NFL's mega popularity to air his personal, ****ed up, gripes. There are countless inequities in this country and a lot of them revolve around race, both against and by blacks, but he chose to take his one little ***** session to a nationally televised venue to get his moment in the sun.

He polarized players, coaches, owners, and fans, just to get his ****ed up personal complaints on national TV. If 5 other players used the NFL to get their personal beliefs on national TV, the league would be done! They should have banned him permanently the day after his first escapade! He would now be gone and forgotten and the country, and the league, would be better for it.

I agree with you 100%. I have not seen any him make any progress since taking over the roll. Grant it, he was KO'd so maybe he is still suffering from the effects of that but IMO, he is nothing more than a game manager, trying not to lose a game, not one to go out and win one.

Far more than five players joined Kaepernick and the league is just fine, so please back off on the hyperbole. Non-violent protest is an important right in this country. I don't love the way Kaepernick chose to do it and as private employers, his team and the league were certainly well within their rights to punish him for it. Colluding to blackball him behind closed doors, however, was a mistake that made the issue far worse than it had to be. The politicizing of the entire thing also made it worse, not better. I won't go into the politics too much because that's not what this board is for, but that is as much a reason why this story has gone on so long as anything Kaepernick did.

He didn't need this to get a moment in the sun. The guy started at quarterback for a team in the Super Bowl. He chose a moment when he could get attention for issues he felt were important. That isn't disrespect for the country, at least not moreso than we see at pretty much every sporting event where the national anthem is played. Seriously, is it really that uncommon to see people still wearing their hats, talking or looking at their phones during the national anthem? Are they cancers? Should they be thrown out of the stadium or lose their jobs? Do you speak up when you see that? Do you do it every time?

No offense but you are talking in circles.

It's not an issue of who joined him, what if a player used the NFL to take a stance against the number of violent crimes committed by blacks?

How do you know they colluded? Are you just guessing? Do you have an axe to grind too?

He chose one topic out of a sea of topics and used it to make disparaging remarks about this country!

Wearing your hat or looking at your phone during the National Anthem is ignorant, polarizing the country by whining about what pisses you off during the National Anthem is a totally different ball of wax.

Kap's idiocy is not about his message anymore. It's about trolling the NFL whom are pieces of crap. Guess what, everyone knows Goodell and the owners are greedy, two faced, scumbags. However, we love our teams and will continue to watch. End of story.

You claimed that the league would be done if five other players did what Kaepernick did. There were far more than five other guys who started kneeling and the league is just fine.

Regarding the collusion, Kaepernick filed suit and the league settled. It's not like I pulled that out of the air. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/15/sports/nfl-colin-kaepernick.html

He didn't whine about what pissed him off during the national anthem. He took a knee and talked about the reasons later, though he clearly could have done a better job of it.

Wearing a hat or looking at your phone during the anthem is every bit as disrespectful as what Kaepernick did. At least in his case, it was for a reason other than being self-absorbed and ignorant. Whether it is disrespectful to the country is a matter of opinion, but you either respect the anthem or you don't.

I think he meant 5 other players with 5 separate issues they were protesting. I don’t think is talking about players joining in on Kraps issue.

he's a professional victim, which is annoying and a distraction. football is also not his #1 priority anymore. many many football people in the know have said so or alluded to it. not someone you want QBing your team. not to mention, he was benched and lost what? 10 out of his last 11 games for the 49ers, or something ridiculous like that..
