This game will not only define this season but possibly the near future of the Steelers. The inept coaching of this team has laid eggs in the last two weeks in critical divisional games. Despite winning yesterday, the coaching staff kept a game close that we should have dominated. And once again, if not for some young, aggressive, talent on D we could have lost to the worst team in the NFL.

I can't fault Keith Butler because the D is playing (accept against the Browns) but if Tomlin can't see the utter ineptitude of Fuchtner's offense, and do something about it, the 3-5 year future of this team is ugly because even if Ben comes back like Superman, he can't over-ride inept coaching.

If the D doesn't dominate next week against the Browns, we could be swept by the Browns (let that rattle around in your brain for a minute!).

I thought the defence did ok v the Browns, the issue was the offence coughing up the ball and giving the Browns short fields. Take care of the ball and the Browns are very beatable. No Garrett this time either, he was huge for them in the last game.

Redzone offence is the single biggest issue on the team, it’s ridiculously bad given the Steelers were No. 1 in the whole league in this area in 2018. They seem to be able to work it in to the Redzone but then they have nothing.

Hopefully juju is back in action and Duck Dynasty can get the job done one way or another. Defence will need 1-2 big plays.

I agree about Randy but I think Butler's job is very safe now. That said, we can't understate the value of losing a top 3 receiver in the league. I'd guess this team is 7-4, 8-3 at least if a receiver of AB's caliber were here. Randy has sucked but I could see FO giving him a pass due to the loss of playmakers and injuries.

Dominate bengals? Lol you act like we are a high tiered team. We are a good defensive team with abysmal offense

I hate interacting with you with that avatar:smiley1: Our "players" are good enough to dominate the Bengals. Despite the losses of talent and injuries, we have what was an elite O line last year and we have two heralded tight ends which would be enough if we had any creativity on the coaching staff.

I definitely agree we need to involve the TEs more (said this in another thread I think). But we also need to be realistic and acknowledge we were playing with a WR and RB who had been here for 5 days, and without a pro bowl Centre, WR and RB.

That's going to limit the playbook, even before you take out your starting QB. Now, I don't disagree that we need to get rid of Fichtner. But any coach is going to struggle when dealt that kind of hand.

At the end of the day, we should have beaten them, and we did. Expecting them to dominate is a tall order.

The Browns have the most explosive offense in the league and they have won 3 games in a row. Mayfield is finally looking like the #1 overall pick. They have the best pair of RB's in the league, and their WR's are loaded with talent. They have everything going in their favor coming in to play a banged up Steeler team. However this is when the Browns always choke. Just when everyone is jumping on their bandwagon and proclaiming them the next great thing, they always do what the Browns are best at and that is choke.

I disagree to an extent about Butler not being at fault here. Butler needs to allow Devin Bush see more snaps as opposed to rolling with Mark Barron. Mark Barron is a liability of the highest caliber. At this point, I think I would rather try Terrell Edmunds at ILB!

Regarding Fichtner, many of you already know what my issue with him is. No more need be said about it.

I couldn't agree more with regard to Barron but it's hard to scream and yell about Butler when the D is the only thing keeping Fuchtner from giving us a losing record.

I'm trying to figure out how a game can be "more than just a must win".

A must must win? The mustest of must wins? A Yoda-like "win you must"? :hmm:

It's a must win for this season.

It is more than just a must win for this season because it has the ability to point toward even more long lasting concerns if we are unprepared for three critical divisional games in a row.

Debbie downer here, the Browns have won 3 straight and starting to play like predicted. I truly believe this is their year to sweep the Steelers. As I've said before 8-8 is a decent season with all that has happened to the Steelers. This is not a playoff caliber team.

And I don't think Duck will be much better then a deer.

the only must win is the daily battle you have with life. sometimes you have good days, sometimes bad. It's those times that nothing is going for you and all hope is lost that you figure ending it all would be the right thing to do. The right thing for everyone. I was that someone. That all changed April 24, 2004. Some may call him a man, others may call him a myth, others "the gray". He goes by the name of Benjamin Todd Roethlisberger.

It`s more than a must win because the Brownies need a butt whipping after what they did.

Did you even watch the first Browns game the Steelers defense absolutely did not struggle against the Browns in fact under the circumstances they played one of thier best game. The Browns didn't even gain 300 yds even though they always had the ball due 4 turnovers and the offense playing like crap, they gave up one busted play touchdown and was given a short field on the other 2 scores. Steelers have an excellent chance of winning this game

Key to the game is Steelers D vs. Browns O. If the Steelers D can hold Mayfield and company to under 14 points, then Steelers have a chance. I don't see the Steelers offense generating 20+ points.

Is Conner and JuJu gonna be back?

IF the Steelers can create at least 1 TO then they have shot to win..
Simple as that.. I don't think our offense is "dynamic" enough to win us a game.. we are relying on the D

I agree I think the Steelers defense is the key to winning this game against the Browns Sunday. I believe they will get to Baker Mayfield a lot more then in Cleveland and force turnovers and ultimately be the difference in this game. Like what was mentioned above the Steelers tried to hand the Browns this game and they still had trouble closing out the Steelers. I expect the Steelers to play a lot better in this game and again I think the Steelers defense is the difference in this game and they will be the difference in the Steelers winning I expect them to come up big.

It comes down to Browns O against the Steelers D and which one will be more successful.

Steelers D has played some great games at home this year, they really feed off the crowd.

Steelers are also going to need the services of Conner and Juju.
