How is Vannett banged up, he hardly plays? Wow if that’s what we have to look forward to with him, we wasted a draft pick.

For Vannette it say illness, but include LT Walton on that list (going to the IR and hardly played). Yes injuries hit every team, but over the course of the season you being to wonder about the conditioning coach. Not casting blame, but this season has been horrific.

I was wondering the same thing. More than the injuries, I was wondering about the defense getting 'gassed' at the beginning of the season (when seemingly they'd be at full strength), or that just being a popular excuse for their shortcomings.
I'm not pointing fingers, btw. (insert @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 , to explain to me why it's not Tomlin's fault  )

Ok whew with Vannett. I was afraid he was fragile as well. Walton, hardly knew ya. I’m not sure about our injuries but there are lots of injuries across the entire league. Also as the season becomes bleaker coincidentally the injuries seem to become more frequent and guys heal a lot slower;)

    Hey groutbrook.

A little science here on Cardiovascular Conditioning. I coached Cross-Country for years at the High School Level. Obviously, the most important attribute to this sport was the building of "Cardiovascular Strength".

True Story: So, I worked out a proposition with the school's Basketball Coach to have his players run for me. It was a win-win all the way around. I got more athletes for my team and when Cross-Country ended, and B-Ball began basically 1-2 weeks later, the B-Ball coach was presented with a super, well "Cardio-Conditioned" team.

In addition, we worked on other facets of physical fitness including yoga and flexibility and more of a low-weight high repetition form of strength training that was cardio-based as well. The coach was so pleased about the physical fitness condition of his players that we continued it on throughout the B-Ball season. The training of his B-ball players helped to put him ahead of the curve since in most seasons prior, the first month was spent on trying to get his players into some form of "Playing Shape" AKA: "Conditioning".

As I went to the B-Ball games, it was a thing of beauty to watch the other teams "gassed" late in the games and our school's players basically not breaking a sweat. Now grant it, our team did not win all of their games, but in the end a number of their victories could be attributed in part to their physical conditioning alone which just wore down the opponents. Eventually, the wrestling coach (As you may know, wrestling began the same time as B-Ball) had his guys participate in Cross-Country as well with similar type results. It really was a great thing to watch unfold.

Well duh when you have a crappy offense, that can't sustain drives, the defense will occasionally get gassed.

Occasionally, no doubt. I've seen it used as an excuse in the first half of games early in the season, when players should be at peak form. They always seem to have enough energy to run an obvious incomplete pass back 90 yards, or sprint down to the end zone for team selfies.

You're still crying about that loss to Cleveland, continue on with your narrative the coaches didn't have the players ready to play . Despite it was the first time Rudolph played on a short week, it showed with him throwing 4 ints, and their top 3 playmakers got injured .

You're probably my favorite poster on this board.
You never disappoint, with your unrelenting defense of all things #TomlinStrong, even when there's no mention of Tomlin.

Speaking of excuses, you made quite a few here. You forgot that the Browns were working on a short week as well and the Steelers were playing like crap even before Conner, Smith-Schuster and Johnson left the game.

    Ho did Switzer get injured?

Last time I saw him on the field he was making a Fair catch at the 5.

No :poopy: Sherlock, I said Mason it was the first time for him playing on a short week. The Steelers played the whole second half with a bunch of practice squad type skill players, except for Washington and Samuels. The Browns offense>Steelers offense. No excuses the Steelers didn't play well, I didn't think they were going to win this game before the injuries.

Show me where I mentioned Tomlin specifically in my thread, you're the one obsessed with him. It's actually pathetic

Steelers starting to look the Golden State Warriors of the Finals last year. They said they were just praying to get through each quarter without another injury. Lol
