    Hey Hanratty#5.

Yes, speed is good. I was just posting about "Fast" Willie Parker in another thread. Let's bust open some wholes for this young man. I coached track for many years. 10.50 for the 100 meters is blazing. Hopefully, we can take advantage of it and put it to good use. STEELWINDS

This dude was a beast at O, not so much in the pros... I'm sure our staff will bring him relevant hahahahahaha but seriously loved this kid as I am a huge ducks fan. Didn't see him transitioning well to the pros but whatever just takes another opportunity.

The Giants cut him, then he cleared waivers by every team in the league. The Steelers could have claimed him, or resigned him to the PS at that time. Now he is on the Giants PS, Steelers evidently have no interest in him.

Let me get this straight we release Moncrief and then sign RB Tony Brooks, so who is this James guy and what position does he play.

    I don't know man...

First off... no one knows the comp pick formula. I suspect not even Colbert and Tomlin know it... so it isn't a given we are getting a 3rd rounder.

2nd, this is the first time I'v ever seen the Steelers make a move for next year the clearly hurts us right now. This is the first time I've seen the Steelers wave the white flag on a season, and I'm a little sickened by it. I get the odds are very low for the Steelers to get to the playoffs and win it all, but when you go out there you are supposed to play to win the game. They are just tanking now in my eyes, no better than the Dolphins.

There is still a lot of football left, god forbid if we have a rash of injuries to our WR's, we could have used Moncreif.

Who's to say we get anyone good with a 3rd round pick the way Colbert has been drafting lately. Whatever, rant over.

What has Montcrief produced? Yes I believe the pick has something to do with it, but they need RB's now and there are only 53 men on the roster. They had to cut somebody. , might as well jettison him and save the cap space next year and get a pick.

Is this the Willie Parker we've been looking for?
    A Returner also?!

    Bye Switzer?

They are saving $4 million for the 2020 cap by cutting Moncrief, I think they know the comp pick formula, they had to cut Moncrief by week 10 to get a third round comp pick. They will bring up WR Tevin Jones from the practice squad, if there are injuries at the WR position, it's not like Moncrief was contributing much anyway.

Moncrief liked the bench. Too-daa-loo for not earning that paycheck.

Should some team be dumb enough to offer their 1st round pick for Artie Burns (I'm looking at you, Oakland. We all know you're Colbert's b**ch.), who's to say we get anyone good with a 1st round pick the way Colbert has been drafting lately? Accepting this trade would arguably hurt us this year in hopes of helping us long term. Would that be tanking?

Even without the comp pick ramifications this would be the right move. This clears up about 4 million dollars in cap space. I'm willing to suit up and drop balls for half the pay Montcrief made.

Absolutely no proof of this, but I believe wholeheartedly our reaches of the last several years are AR2 selections and not Colbert/Tomlin selections. Colbert has never reached for players or drafted based on positions of need. Suddenly his approach seems to have changed. A leopard doesn’t change his spots. To me these changes in draft strategy point to the man in charge and that’s Rooney.

I found some good stuff on the comp pick "formula". The NFL has not made it public so all you have to go by is trends. The OTC article is very long but interesting, here is a few things:

    Projected compensatory pick: Round 3.
Key free-agent losses: Le'Veon Bell (Jets); Jesse James (Lions).
Key free-agent additions: Steven Nelson (Chiefs); Donte Moncrief (Jaguars).
Comp-pick analysis: With the departure of Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh is set to receive a comp pick for the first time since 2017.

How would you like to be compensated 4 million for 4 receptions?
Steelers got hosed on this one. Cut your losses and move on.
The compensation pick will be needed.

I'd like to have been in on that negotiation.

Agent: My client wants 2 million dollars per reception

Omar Khan: That's unheard of. Best we can do is 1 million

Agent: You drive a hard bargain

Speed cannot be taught, that said he has been cut from several NFL teams and no one signed him. That does not always tell the whole story and he might develop into something this teams needs, then again he is at this time the 5th option coming up only because of injury. When Conner and or Snell get healthy he likely gets cut and resigned to the PS, then he might be cut again if they want to keep Edmunds. Hell I would love for him to light it up enough that they cut Switzer and make him the return man, but let's be honest this move is out of necessity, he would never see the filed of 2 rb's were not injured and even then might not see the field if Samuels and Edmonds stay upright.
