Why? Gordon is a better player.

To be fair, their issues are not the same. Gordon has screwed up more. He isn't just a pothead. He's an addict. If that is why you don't want him, I absolutely see the point. He's risk, but one that makes sense at this point.

Gordon is mentally fragile, that's my reason to say no.

That's fair. He's got serious issues. I'm surprised he was even allowed to play after his last incident.

To me, the risk seems to be relatively low with the potential for a big payoff.

Tomlin might be trying to get away from babysitting & pandering to the special needs players. This would be a step back imo.

That makes sense, too. I disagree, but I get it.

To me, if they are willing to take Chickillo back, they should be willing to take a risk on Gordon.

WRs are going to be OK if Rudolph progresses. We'll see. IMO, we don't need to bring anybody in unless injuries pile up.

We are getting no production out of 3 out of 6 of our receivers. Actually 4 out of 6. I'd like to see Gordon and another FA that's just sitting out there brought in. Plus a comp pick. Why not at this point?

I don't know how anybody can watch this team and say they don't need help at receiver. Of course, Smith-Schuster is an excellent starter and Johnson is coming along nicely, but nobody else is producing. Washington, Switzer, Holton and Moncrief have only 22 receptions combined. Holton still hasn't caught a pass. Switzer averages a pathetic 3.4 yards per reception on his eight catches. Moncrief has done more damage than good. Washington is the best of that group, but he certainly isn't good.

It’s one thing to be accused of something and another to be found guilty.
No thanks on Gordon for me.

Those saying cut Moncrief and sign Gordon to get the comp pick. Is that really going to work? Wouldn’t we just be trading one FA for another?

So, I was a big fan of the Washington pick a couple of years ago, and I still see too much long-run potential to cut bait, but he is not playing well at all. At least not at his primary role, which is catching passes.

No. Signing players who were cut does not affect the formula.

I knew this thread was coming , if Gordon couldn't produce with Brady and the Patriots, would he produce with a lesser QB with Pittsburgh?

A lot of WR have gone to NE and not produced. Brandin Cooks had his worst statistical year with Brady. Gordon produced enough. He fills a need, we need a deep threat. We just need him to run go routes all game and catch a few to draw a double team here and there. We are getting rid of Moncrief for the 3rd round comp so it's a no brainer.

The Steelers aren't even in the top 10 for the waiver claim, I don't see it happening.

Yes, it just makes you wonder what group of WRs are the Front Office looking at. I am so sick of hearing about "well we as fans do not know what the inner-workings are of the FO behind the scenes." And yes, true to a degree. However, I know what I see each game and it is probably the same as what most fans see as well as the FO. Given that, it is obvious we need help at the WR position.... NOW!. STEELWINDS

I'm pretty sure we can only cut moncrief and not bring anyone else in...... the comp pick is based on team loss and gain

It is, but I believe it's based on FA loss and gain, not a player who's been cut.

That’s not correct. The net gains and losses are only counted during a specific period of time from the start of the free agency period until a point sometime during the summer. If a FA signed or lost is cut before - I think - Week 10, they are eliminated from the calculation. Signing a player who was cut never hurts you.
