His final line was 5 receptions on 7 targets for 84 yards and 1 TD. Thats 3 scores in the last 5 games. If Mason was more accurate yesterday, DJ likely would have had 3 TD's for about 150 yards.

JuJu got going this game too, over 100 yards and a score.

Clearly the 1 and 2 have been set for this team but they should be looking at the waiver wire for someone to fill the #3 spot. Moncrief should be let go before week 10, he's useless and Washington I fear is never going to get going. Good block on DJ's TD but just 1 reception on 6 targets.

Not much out there though, a few names they could kick the tires on:

    Jordan Matthews
    Kelvin Benjamin
Mike wallace (I know I know)
Martavis Bryant (I Know I know)

I like Matthews the best, he'd fit in nicely as the #3

All of his touchdowns this year have been pretty lucky. Except the one that didn't count. That would have been his 1st impressive deep catch/touchdown yet. The rest were gifts.

    Hey Blast.

As I stated in another post where our "O" was once our strength, especially at the WR position, where we were loaded, has now become a start-over position. Brown, Bryant, Sanders, Heath, Bell (yes, he was a receiver also). I also think that Mason, or Hodges, would be flourishing that much better as well. Put Ben back in there and just WOW! Just when our "D" seems to be turning a corner. I like the way the young guys played last night. However, 16 weeks is not a lot of time to gel. However, you deal with the cards you been dealt. If we had that cast of WRs with our current "D".... WOW! We would really be cooking IMO. STEELWINDS

JuJu just needs time to gel with Rudolph, this is only their 4th game working together, don't forget that Rudolph wasn't working with the number 1's in preseason.

They are going to have a solid 1-2, they need a 3. Whether thats Washington or someone else, there is a void to fill.

Who would have thought at the start of the season that DJ would have more TDs than AB

Right now the #3 is Washington by default. Switzer and Moncrief aren't even NFL caliber players and Johnny Holton is like the invisible man out there. He can play the whole game and no one can recall seeing him the entire night.

Washington is an empty uniform, if he is going to man that spot he needs to start playing, otherwise get someone who can.

i thought Washington had passes thrown behind him, I liked his blocking... not on board w Washington criticism, this offense has three good receivers, JSS, Washington and Johnson

Just curious when was the last time steelers picked up a has-been WR from another team that actually became a solid #3 and contributed here? Was it Cotchery?

    I believe so.

Beyond him, not too many other WRs from other teams come to mind. Lance Moore was supposed to work out in 2014 but did not happen. All I can think of at the moment.

Regarding James Washington, I do not know what else to say about him. Beyond JuJu and Diontae, there really are not too many other options at present. I hope James can get it going but with each passing week, those chances erode quicker and quicker.

You know he pancaked a guy on Johnson's catch and score and on the Conner TD.

You need a guy that's going to do that. It's likely he's a bit stiff getting his arms up because of that injury, but he's got functional strength to make a key block or 2 down the field.

IDK why you are so against JW I have read all off season how you were not happy with him. I get it he hasn't had very good performances but just like you say about Juju he needs time. Let's face it Mason is just getting started and I hope the 2nd half Mason from Monday night is the guy we are going to see more. If that is true I feel pretty good about JW, and I think Juju and DJ will light it up as well.

I know JW had that pass go right through his hands and almost was an INT but imo I feel he will be fine. I think his confidence is shot and needs a big come out game and then we will be back to one of the best WR groups in the league. I get he had 6 targets with 1 catch but how many were catchable, yeah the one that went through his hands but I also saw a great route he ran where Mason threw it way behind him over the middle. That isn't his fault but yet people want to throw stats out. I am just saying JW has been a lighting rod for some here but there is a little more to it then he stinking, jmo.:smiley1:

I’d go with Cedric Wilson. Just seemed like he had some impact plays during that 2005 Super Bowl run.
I honestly can’t remember anything that impactful that Jericho Cotchery did?
Also for what it’s worth anyone remember that Cedric Wilson was cut by the Steelers for allegedly punching his girlfriend?

Is it possible JW is garnering the second most attention after JUJU. I mean DJ is a rookie so JW is probably taking some attention away from him. DJ is doing his thing and taking advantage so maybe some of that focus starts shifting towards him and the D will have to start to pick it’s poison. Hopefully it becomes a good problem to have that all 3 are producing. I think it’s too early to give up on JW. At least he’s not sulking and still providing a important dimension to this O.

As I watched MR Monday night I went from "he is scared" to "he is connecting on some lucky plays" to "he is putting the ball in some tight windows with success".

I just want to see him stop throwing off his back foot and step into his throws; if he does, he will probably overthrow a few but I am cautiously optimistic!

Better to overthrow than to underthrow.

With that said, Diontae Johnson looks to be legit. Just needs time to gel with Rudolph.

If MR starts stepping into his throws and creates a repeatable release, he will fix the overthrows in a flash!
