I thought once he settled down after being down 14-0 he was really good throwing the ball when he had time to step up and throw in the pocket. I know Miami sucks but it was good to see Rudolph was able to come back down 14-0 in this game when the crowd was upset and booing and play the way he did. He had some key 3rd down conversions in this game as well did Rudolph, and I just thought overall he was solid from about the middle of the 2nd quarter on

Said it before already. Glad others are seeing it the same. Mason has the tools coaches simply cannot teach. As some of you may call them.. intangibles.

Tonight was just another example. Happy that Mason got the win. That said, he still has work to do.

i was really starting to doubt myself there at the start. i was even apologizing to my girl and saying wow i guess i was wrong? it looked so bad i was shocked.

just glad that i believed in myself and stuck to the couch like only a pro could do. i worked through it alright.

Steeler nation is tired of 26 points per game. We want 40 burgers! That's the next step.

I went to my backup couch after we missed a long field goal to start the 3rd quarter. That’s why we followed it up with a 97 yard drive. Steeler Nation, you’re welcome.

That is funny cause the wife had the light on in the living room which we never have on.. I got up to refill my water glass:rolleyes: and shut it off and bam Mason started playing better. Must have been blinding him............:lolol:

On a serious note Mason did come around I mean lets face it he is still trying to find his groove. I mean the little he played before the KO he wasn't throwing it more than 5 yards. There was a lot of rust to be knocked off and still a lot of work to do but at least he showed last night some promise. Some think it is easy to just come right in and be a star, if it were that easy why are there so many bad QB's around the league?

Rudolph in the 2nd through the 4th quarter was 19-30 for 237 yards 2 TD’s and a 110 passer rating. I think Rudolph grew a little bit last night having to bring the Steelers back the way he did. For the season so far Rudolph is completing nearly 64 percent of his passes for nearly 900 yards with 9 TD’s and 3 INT’s and a passer rating of 97.5. So people can say what they want about Rudolph but he has been more good then bad and those numbers right there above prove this.

You got to remember this was only his 5th start,
there are going to be some bumpy roads on the journey.
He is a student of the game, so hopefully he can continue
getting better in al phases of his maturation into the NFL.

Very good point and throw in the fact that the last game he was in he got hit and TKO'd, that has to have some affect on him.

I'll have to go back and rewatch, but it still felt like he was throwing into a lot of pretty tight coverage. Some of the receivers made some pretty amazing catches with defenders all over them.

Still, I'm rooting for Rudolph and hope this was a good growth spurt.

Congrats MR on a nice comeback and nice win! My concern with him is two fold: 1. He throws from his back foot ....... 2. He had all day in the pocket early and couldn't seem to find anyone open against a defense that has coverage problems?

I still remain skeptical of Rudolph.

    • His has not shown NFL arm strength.
    • His accuracy, even on his supposed strength, the deep ball, has been inconsistent at best
    • His decision making is a split second slow.
Those three all add up to limiting the playbook. Quick slants and deep outs are going to be tough to run on any consistent basis. They're going to be limited to fades, wheels, curls, and such.

On the good side he does seem to make good decisions when given more than average time in the pocket. He can scan the field and find the open guy. As long as the O-line plays well then he'll be OK. Last night they played the team that's next to last in the league in sacks. Even average pass protection may not be good enough for him to succeed, although he seems pretty good when flushed out of the pocket.

He can, and probably will, improve, but right now I see him ending up a good NFL backup/average starter, not a good NFL starter. Think Case Keenum.

Yes the Dolphins aren't the best! But Rudolph showed some grit and calmness to hit his throws second half and come back from an early interception.

The Dolphins are dead last in the league in pass yds given up per attempt. #31 in that category is the Bengals which was MR's best game rating.

I think MR has a lot of potential but there are some concerns that need addressed. Plus he just seems to lack fire! He seems like a guy who is just too nice.

Still not sold on him, his throw were not great but the receivers made great catches.

You oldtimers may remember Bradshaw made some bad passes that Swann made amazing catches on.

MR was good enough last night. However, he seemed to really struggle with accuracy and consistency. I am happy we have him as a backup, but Steelers need to keep looking for their next QB after Ben. I am still not optimistic that Big Ben returns. Maybe we will use our 1st round pick in 2021 for the long term answer at QB?

    Hey PDX.

I am not so sure that MR can not be our guy. I know that we are hearing a lot about him being young, 4th start.... yak, yak, yak. I really thought that once he did settle down he did well. This may have just been the game that the doctor ordered for him. I know it was the fish but they did come out pumped and I think that overall the Steelers fought through the initial adversity and played a strong final three quarters. Let us give Mason some time but yes he has to grow-up quick in today's game. Hopefully, this game was the beginning for him and the team as well. STEELWINDS

Rudolph is already throwing the ball more than Ben did his first/rookie season. Give it time... Rudolph needs experience and he will get it.

    Hey PDX.

Lets us just stay focused right now, one game at a time. Minus the first quarter this is probably the most complete game that we played this year. I really think Mason did a fine job through the final three quarters. He was good in college. I know that does not always transfer to the pro stage but he definitely has talent. He definitely looked more confident to me last night. Hopefully he, and the team can build off of that performance. I know it was against a winless team but they have been improving. Contrary to what some others may think, I do not think the Dolphins want to go winless for the season. They too have pride and players are playing for their jobs. STEELWINDS

I agree he did pull together pretty good I'll albeit even if it was against the dolphins. A very good way to boost the young man's confidence
