We need something at WR...desperately. Washington is not panning out at this given moment, Moncrief seems to be a flop, Switzer is average at best. I knew this was going to happen when AB left. However, he had to go. STEELWINDS

 

There's still hope for Washington. He will be good in a role change. He's not a deep threat. Doesn't get enough separation and making catches down sideline. He's better over the middle.

 

No, I am not giving up on him. However, he needs to step it up faster. I really was hoping that since he had his "battery" mate at QB that they were going to seamlessly put it together like they did at Oklahoma U. STEELWINDS

If 3.4 yds per catch is average, help us find someone way better than average. I don't know if it is scheme, or just Switzer being bad. Last year he was not spectacular but averaged 7 yds per catch, not great but respectable for your 4/5 receiver.

It’s not that he can’t be a deep threat it’s because if that’s all you ask him to do of course it’s going to be difficult and predictable and low percentage. Like I was clamoring for all last season you have to use him in other ways besides going deep. Then you can set him up deep. It looked to me he and MR were starting to find a rhythm together before MR got hurt. Let’s hope they can get back on the same page again quickly.

Steelers just need a receiver who can catch 10-15 yard passes. Mason won't be throwing deep balls too much. Let's see how many times he throws downfield in the Miami game. Probably won't be any need too since I doubt the Dolphins will have a lead that forces us to have to throw deep.

 

Eli Rogers fits the bill. Knows the system. Cut Moncrief = Rogers and a 3rd ....simple math

Does he? He was never spectacular, had one decent year. Yet after being cut he has tried out for how many teams and remains unsigned. I would love to believe he is better than Swtizer, but he remains unemployed for a reason.

 

Majority of Washington's catches have been over the middle. His last big catch was. I remember the videos from Steelers scouting him was going up and making a big catch over the middle. That's where he's better suited but they want to run him down the sideline all game.

He doesn't fit the bill though. Rogers is a slot receiver and Moncrief was suppose to be a deep threat on opposite side of JW. That's why I said grab this guy. He's 6'4 225. Give him a shot.

For 10-15 yard catches over the middle, that used to be the TEs. Maybe getting them more involved will help out the WRs.
