I don't think we are having this conversation if Ben were still here and healthy.

Thats the whole point Burgh and I are trying to make.

JuJus numbers aren't as awful as people are acting, just in two games, the massive check down game with Mason and the game with Hodges.

No doubt in my mind that JuJus numbers would be where they are supposed to be if Ben were here.

How so? Everybody is talking about missing AB and needing somebody to open things up for Juju.

You bring up Metcalf to the Steelers all the time, it wasn't going to happen after they traded up to get Bush.

Why not? We didn't have a 2nd round pick and three in the 6th. Why not use a 6th to move up a few spots and get the WR we needed? Sutton Smith got cut and Buggs and Gilbert are doing nothing.

Yes, the WR we needed was right there and our GM was too busy celebrating Bush.

While it’s a fun argument to have or maybe not , it depends. Just like 90% of what we do here it’s all pure speculation. I certainly don’t think it’s helpful to lose the best WR in the game and there are a few other variables at work for this season for certain. What can’t be ignored is Ben/AB had something special. The next QB/WR combo of the future for this team has big shoes to fill. We may never know the answer to the Ben/AB/JUJU question.

Kevin Colbert sure was! I also celebrated with him as well. Widely being reputed as the best defensive player in the draft being added to your team is something most GMs would celebrate for and nevermind fans.

That being said, there is something of note here. One aspect that is being ignored for some odd reason. Last time I checked, JuJu did not cost his team the game via a fumble in his rookie season.

What did D.K. Metcalf do against Baltimore?!?! For that matter, better question. Was D.K. even touched by a Ravens defender?!?!

He fumbled down 10 with 3 minutes. Game was already over. DJ fumbled in a 0-0 game and gave the Bengals their only points and momentum. Luckily Bengals are horrible this year.

    Really was not.

Russel was leading them to a score. They were in Baltimore's territory. He catches that, the drive is sustained; points on the board being either three, six or even being the outcome.

Furthermore, this is not about D.J. We are talking about D.K. vs JuJu. Again, show me some tape in which JuJu fumbles the ball and costs the Steelers a game in his rookie season.

    I will wait.

You seem to be looking at JuJu as AB’s replacement as the “#1” receiver (which is a subjective assessment- what IS a #1 receiver?). JuJu is JuJu. He’s still here, but AB is not. Someone else is replacing AB, not JuJu. Really, it’s a bunch of someone elses, none of whom have demonstrated that they’re anywhere in the ballpark of filling AB’s shoes. What I’m saying is AB + JuJu > JuJu + the other guys replacing AB’s snaps at WR, and it’s not even close. I’m not saying anything negative about JuJu. I’m just acknowledging the fact that the receiving crew as a whole was vastly superior with AB than it has been without him. All of the hate in the world for AB can’t take away from the reality that he was a monstrous weapon on the field. A weapon that we haven’t even come close to replacing.

Did you really just say this when there’s tape out there of JuJu potentially costing the team games in both his 2nd and 3rd years with fumbles? Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big JuJu fan, and I think the fumble vs. the Ravens was much more due to a great play by Humphrey than a mistake by JuJu, but man- that’s not a good example...

His fault or not. Miss Ben, AB or don't, this much is true: If you're 50th in league in receptions and receiving yards, they don't ask you to do Pizza Hut commercials.

It's not shocking to see Juju's numbers drop given that Ben is out. And I'm not blaming Juju. But he is in his 3rd yr, he's a veteran and an alleged leader now. And if he's double covered all the time - get open if you're so great. It's time for him to do more. He's a Pro Bowl WR, right?

Looks like we should have a shot at Josh Gordon soon, if we want him. Cut Moncrief. Pick up Gordon for the rest of the year and a 3rd round pick. I know.i know ******,******,******. Beat you to it...

Not my point. I did not absolve JuJu for losing games at all. There is a bigger takeaway here than just JuJu costing us games. One that is not even his own doing entirely.

My point is that how is a rookie in D.K. going to help when the Offense itself cannot move the ball as it stands?! For all of his physical gifts, D.K. still has his issues. His biggest is a lack of versatility; something I imagine both Colbert and Tomlin took into consideratiom considering they covet that in EVERY position not named quarterback; Wide Receivers no less.

For that matter, there is a bigger "what if" at play. Assuming D.K. Metcalf was selected by the Steelers, how does this defense look to this point?! Could you imagine this team's record without Devin Bush?!

I want JUJU to get his numbers because deep down I know he cares. Sucks is that like Blast said Mason is not helping, and having no decoy means he is blanketed. Even with Ben I don't think this is a top 10 offense, yes Brown meant that much.

You’re having a completely different conversation then I am. I’m not talking about AB at all, I’m addressing the people saying JuJu is not a number 1 receiver.

Bogus conclusion based on the circumstances this year.

Terry McLaurin is a better player than Metcalf and was still on the board when they took DJ. Looks to be an absolute baller. I’m more than happy with that pick though, DJ will be good in time.

    1) He fumbled at their own 25. They weren't in Baltimore territory so you clearly didn't watch it. He wasn't leading them to score.

    2) This is about Metcalf vs DJ because Juju wasn't in that draft.

    3) Juju fumbled our season away last year and this year.

    Really? This year?

Pretty sure our season ended when Ben went down.

Only thing I look for in this season is if Mason is going to be the guy leading this team for years to come. Anything else is gravy.

I'm just saying what everybody else is saying. I defended Juju that whole time. I'm the rational one here. Like not blaming somebody for fumbling down 10 with 3 minutes left. Game was already over.

Yeah we technically still have at least 10 weeks of season left. The season is over on 10/29 at the earliest.

I’m with you on this. Metcalf is Mike Wallace with bigger pecs. One trick pony all the way. The fumble was a mistake that anyone can make though.
