It’s definitely an improved defense, but it needs to be more clutch. Sunday the offense twice took 3 point leads in the second half, but the defense then gave up game tying 12 and 9 play drives. The offense did it’s job twice and the defense failed.

Also, the defender held Johnson up from getting back off the ground. Ref was right there waiting as well...

I didn't see it mentioned, but they were talking about how he came in first play and changed the protection off the sight read....

Gotta enjoy how much he embraces the Duck nickname. Someone who exemplifies owning it.

True. I forgot about that. They definitely let the defender get away with stealing a couple of seconds there.

So FWIW I’ve heard Hodges being talked up by some Sirius XM NFL guys. In particular, Pat Kirwan said that when he visited Steelers camp the offense led by Hodges beat the 1st team defense for 3 TDs in the goal line drills. He said that one of the coaches (who he didn’t name) told him that he thought that the Steelers should keep him over the other guys (which I assume means the other backup QBs). Kirwan also likened Hodges to Gardner Minshew. A couple of days ago I heard a different SXM NFL guy say that Hodges reminds him of Bobby Hebert. I was only listening for a couple of minutes, and I didn’t catch the name of that SXM guy.

Duck threw a couple bad balls, but honsetly looked more accurate than either Ben or Mason. Neither our #1 or #2 have thrown particularly well this season. So it was exciting to see Dev come in without shackles and move the chains.

I hope MR is okay, but I'm fine with our #3 leading the team for the forseeable future.

He should go under center and make some duck calls before the ball is snapped. There are other hunters playing football. Maybe the NT looks up to see the flock of geese just as the ball is snapped.

I love PK he is the best to listen to, he is not one of them over reaction types. He is one of them who always looks at both sides. With that said not sure why but he always talks high about the Steelers.

They did not screw up the time management. They made a logical and rational decision to get at least 3 points. Having that time out gave the team the best shot at 3 points. 3 points is better than zero in a close game. It was a choice and not a screw up.

The Steelers didn't have Tom Brady back there slinging the ball. They had a QB playing with little experience. I wouldn't trust Mason to throw a quick sideline timing route at this point of his career.

Since you are playing "what if" what if Mason threw in INT, what if there was a sack, what if Mason threw to the middle of the field because the Ravens coverage dictated such, what if Mason threw a pick six? What if there was a sack, what if there was a penalty that made a fg attempt much more difficult? What if....

We witnessed the Ravens young QB make a mistake that allowed the Steelers to have the opportunity.

The coaches made the right decision to save the time out and get at least 3 points. Just never know when a young QB/player will make a mistake. They are not always thinking about making the right decisions while in the heat of the game.

Disagree. No guts, no glory . We’re losing games being conservative. Maybe trusting your QB more would lead to more wins. Look around the league there are quite a few young QBs slinging the ball and winning games. We don’t live in our fears....or so we’re told.

Just wait until he runs one in, goes to the goal post pad pulls out a duck call and the rest of the team comes running in flapping their arms and land on the pond.

Could use this as a new cadence to confuse the other teams defense and improve our own communications.

You don't have to agree. At the very least you should try to understand. Often times people can disagree with a decision, understand the decision, and be ok with the decision making process. People who believe their way is the correct or only way are the individuals with the problem.

They are losing games because the offense doesn't produce enough points. They are losing games because of turnovers that happen at inopportune times. They are losing games because of bad luck.

They are not producing points because they have young QBs. Young QBs tend to make game changing mistakes. We also have a group of young WRs. Unfortunately, we don't have other team's young QBs. There are quite a few young and veteran QB's that are struggling this season. We have to go with the players we have.

You believe everything coaches say? Shame on you. I hope one day soon someone uncovers your eyes.

They weren't whining last year when the team won 6 straight, some were talking about Tomlin for coach of the year.

I realize I don’t have to agree, that’s why I don’t. I understand the decision as well but I still don’t agree with it. Not sure where I said my way was the only way. I just have a different opinion on how we handled the clock in that situation. I’m not a member of the flock. What makes the way you are seeing it the right way?
They are losing games because they aren’t scoring enough points? Exactly my point. How is the cautious approach working out. Maybe you can see there’s a alternative to that because playing things close to the vest has already proven not to work, for this season so far we’re 1-4. Rudolph has proven to be more effective already when being allowed to actually throw the ball to move the ball. It’s when he’s being asked to play it safe the offense has been struggling to do anything . Except kicking FGs. Which hasn’t helped us win but 1 game. When he’s been allowed to open it up some we’ve seen positive results. That’s with my eyes uncovered. I’m not the only one who recognizes this.

Hey I actually agree we have to go with the players we have....obviously. There’s also such a thing of putting players in a position to succeed.
No I clearly don’t believe everything a coach says and i don’t have to agree with their decisions either.

I gotta love the people who try and lecture someone about “‘uncovering “ their eyes and their way isn’t the only way. Only to come across the same way. Hmmm... maybe they’re the ones with the problem.

I just saw Ian Rappaport on the NFL network say that although Rudolph is still in concussion protocol, he is doing remarkably well and hasn't been ruled out for the Chargers game. I still find it hard to believe that he will play this week.

My guess is he will be cleared late in the week, but Hodges will get the start and they will try to keep Rudolph out until the Miami game.

Just read that he practiced limited. I'd say let Hodges take this one. I really liked what he did in preseason, HeCK IN GAME!, over the other 2 guys!
