I don't have a side in this argument. He asked a question about when the Patriots last played an OT game and I remembered those two games.
I actually see both sides of Tomlin's decision to kick in OT. Of course you always want the ball first because if you go down and score the game is over but Justin Tucker is so good at hanging the ball high and not quite in the endzone to pin the offense back. He is probably the only kicker in the league that you have to game plan for.

More than 5. Brady is 11-5 in ot, since the jets he hasn’t lost. Go do some research before you talk about me spouting off

This is just my take and nothing more.

It looked like Cam was confused to say the least. I believe right before the toss, he was looking at the bench and then pointing in the direction Tomlin wanted to go. This was assuming that we did not win the toss.

Now, I think it is better to take the ball in OT and here is my warped thinking. OT is only 10 minutes. Let's say you take the ball and go 3 and out. Time off the clock is 3-3.5 minutes. You kick and hopefully your D can get a 3 and out too. Again, time off the clock is 3-3.5 minutes. They kick and you get the ball for the second time with a chance to win it with just a FG.

You see, if you take the ball first, you stand a good chance to get it again. That is 2 possessions to just one for the other team.

I know that situation is a reach, but I would rather take a chance at getting the ball twice than just having one opportunity. Just my take. I would have taken the ball.

I never thought of it that way, I had forgotten that OT was only 10 minutes long. In your scenario, which makes sense, the worst you would come away with was a tie.

exactly your defense was going to have to make a stop either way, you take the ball, maybe switzer or holton get a seam and get out to the 40, god forbid. don't play in your fears

    That's not the point.

    The point is exactly this....

If you're going to talk the talk.. Then walk the walk.

Tomlin in his post game press conference speeches...what's that ya say Mikey?

We won't play the game based on our fears.

    Yeah....

    Ooooooooookkkkkkk.

Just must be every other situation just not last night huh.

Afraid to fail so let's give the other team the ball....

    IN...

    Wait for it....

    OVERTIME!!!!!!

So now you can read his emotions from watching the game on television or up in the stadium seats? The decision worked. At worst, if Smith-Schuster hangs on to that pass and the Steelers don't move another yard, they have flipped the field. Of course, if he doesn't fumble, they are about 20-25 yards from a game-winning field goal attempt for Boswell. The game was lost on the fumble, not the decision to kick off.

No matter how stout the defense is (or you think it is).

    1. It let the Ravens march into field goal range to tie the game in regulation.

and 2. Even if you kick off and play good defense and force a punt, the Ravens may get a first down or two and punt and pin you inside the 20 anyway. And you are back to where you could have been taking the ball.

    + maybe another possession.

I would take the ball every time.

Tomlin is a clown. Always trying to be the smartest guy in the room. He is perhaps the opposite. Say hi to the Washington monument.

The only thing I came away from this thread with is me left wondering what a "trendy arm chair fan" is? I have heard of arm chair QB, and I have heard of being a trendy fan, but I have never heard the two merged. :hmm:

    No except for one thing...

I'm so sick of hearing the professional speaking about all the right things to say with conviction.

It's what got him hired and what keeps him from being fired.

Sunday was the perfect example of him not even prartucing his own bull**** he spews.

Worst coach currently employed in the NFL.

Don't you dare point to records.... I argue the organization is responsible for most of that and Bill Cowher early on and Mikey road that coat tail of Cowhers team to a super Bowl win. He tried like hell to lose it... But Harrison ET al said no!

Ever since it's been 101 percent his team... Players, structure and culture of the team are 100 percent his...

Since that time it's been embarrassing football.

    Think about that!!!

Actually I think it factors in everything, I am sure there have been second string QB's, RB, etc on the team winning the coin toss and winning the game. If it doesnt, show me in all the stats that have comprised 56% of the wins where not one 2nd or 3rd teamer participated.

Yes, I saw that you have also been blaming Smith-Schuster. Somebody agrees with part of what you've been saying and you snidely say that means they need to keep up? And people think I'm the disagreeable one?

That wasn't my issue with your ramblings. It is your fictional account of the decision to kick off in overtime that I find ridiculous.

    Also, prartucing?

    Exactly.

We win and Cam immediately points to a goal in the way they want to defend.

    The ref waa like..

    Uuuuhhhhhhhhh

This is Overtime, If they get a touchdown they win.

He didn't actually say that but it was like that... So now Cam realizes... Ooohhhhhh

We won the toss... What do I do again?

Notice Cam keep looking over repeatedly to the sideline.

Well coached teams don't have those amateur moments......

    all the time!!!!!!!!!

How the hell has Tomlin's expiration date not been here and gone by now?

With Gruden gone our beloved Steelers now are the proud employers of NFL's worst coach

If you are promising us exactly what Tomlin told Heyward, can you ask Tomlin the next time you guys are having a beer together, when he plans to retire?
