He said there appeared to be confusion and miscommunication on the defense on the game winning touchdown and throughout that entire drive. Big damn shock there. Like what the **** is with Butler and Tomlin that they cant get this defense on the same page game after game week after week. It’s completely inexcusable this continues to happen time and time again. When are their gonna be consequences for this from ownership. I mean do they just sit back and continue to just let the same **** happen week after week without it ever being corrected.

You can blame Butler and the defense all you want to. When you have 5 turnovers forced. weather the defense caused them or not, and you get 6 points to show for it. That's on the offense.

I'm so tired of hearing about these communication issues. Who's job is it to fix this and why isn't this person being held accountable? How does Tomlin keep getting a pass from the media? At what point is the media going to stop talking about what a great coach he is and start talking about all the issues we have and have had for years

Three of them were gift wrapped and self inflicted by the Niners so the defense didn’t play as well as those numbers looked. They still got pushed off the ball and like I have been saying with the game on the line as usual the Steelers defense folded like a lawn chair like they have done going back to late last season.

It's great that the defense capitalized on turnovers caused by 49er's, mistakes.

But while the O didn't get a lot of points for those, they did have the team ahead at the end of the game, and for the 2nd week in a row, the D didn't stop the other team from going ahead and winning. Last week they gave up scores on 4 drives at the end of the game even though the O had the team up enough to win.

Yes the 49ers were clearly the better team yesterday. Without their self inflicted wounds they would have scored 40 or more.

I could continue reiterating my point about what the Steelers should do regarding the coaching. However, that is nugatory anyway. Not because the ideas I have recently presented cannot be done. It is because they WILL NOT HAPPEN until seasons end.

On that note though, Keith Butler NEEDS demoted at the very least by mid season. Terryl Austin is not some rookie coach. Rather see him at the controls.

correct but not sure if austin is the answer either. How is his resume? What has he done in the past that would make him look good? I like him as a secondary coach and Butler as a linebackers coach. We need a true DC one that adjusts with the changes in the league and one that won't let tomlin fiddle with it.

If that is the case, and I absolutely hate when coaches do this mind you, Tomlin might have to take control of playcalling the defense yet again. Bear in mind there was a report that was out that stated he took over playcalling at some point during the 2018 NFL Season. That being said, I do not want Tomlin anywhere near touching the defensive playbook.

Regarding Teryl, fair enough. I suppose being a Defensive Backs Coach is his strongest suit. That said, he has had NFL experience operating a defense. His work in 2017 is his best but it was with the Detroit Lions. Pittsburgh has better talent than that 2017 Lions squad did.

Keep in mind though, I am only stating Teryl to be interim. Finding an actual one is paramount.

you're not wrong. A change is welcome and being interim is fine with me. it's a win/win. If austin improves the defense give him a year as DC, if not keep him as DB coach.

Either way Butler HAS to go at the end of this year. Over Randy over Tomlin. I would love Tomlin gone but he is staying imo.

How many years and how many QBs have been ridiculing our defense. It goes back some time. Does e that tell you something? Obviously to most but not to who can actually change it.

When the offense does essentially nothing in a first half of a game, you can`t expect to win that game. This loss is not on the defense.

Look, we all know nothing is going to happen mid-season. But nothing will happen at all if we stop complaining about it. I know the standard is the standard but I want a better standard. We just got beat by a bad team. This ain't Montana or Young, this is a porn dating glass man QB that got exposed last year and some this year. 5 turnovers and we lost!

It is on the entire team, including the defense, which blew the lead three times in the second half, including the final drive. Obviously, the Conner fumble didn't help, but the defense only got the stop before that because the 49ers botched a shotgun snap.

The 49ers moved the ball easily most of the game. In addition to the four turnovers in the first half, they also sabotaged a drive with a huge loss on a fumbled pitch.

Butler is useless. It is amazing to me that he is still employed. He should have been gone after the 2017 season and his flaws have only become more apparent since.

I mean if the minority owners wanted Tomlin gone and he got an extension, I dont think us as fans can do much. Plus the media's perception is how good of a coach Tomlin is. They will keep using that "never had a losing season BS." Plus right after yesterdays game, announcers were praising Tomlin. I was just like, "you cant make this up."

yeah I do. It gets the message out there and so does the whining from long time fans. What does your constant complaining about other people voicing their opinions on our team do? NOTHING.

Your method of doing nothing accomplishes guess what, NOTHING. At least the rest of us make our displeasure known and it will have an effect large or small. So don't whatever me.
