Mark Barron another free agent bust

He's terrible in coverage, I think he was in coverage when the FB caught a 40 yd pass, it looked he stopped running. He also got a holding penalty on the last 49ers TD, after the Steelers held them giving the 49ers a first down .

 

He sucks but Nelson has been solid

 

That holding should have been an offsetting penalty. After TJ got around his block the guy clearly shoves him in the back in an attempt to give Garapolo a chance to escape.

 

I realize that does nothing to challenge your opinion on Barron, just thought it was worth mentioning.

 

It’s not really a opinion. It’s a fact ,he’s awful. I was keying on him most of the game ever since I saw him jogging earlier in the game. It didn’t get any better from there. He needs the Moncrete treatment. Rather see a hustling TM or Gilbert making rookie mistakes but actually trying. 0-3 nothing to lose .

 

It was happening week 1 too, I'm not sure they were clear on what they wanted from him when he was signed. It's like he figures that Bush should be running and covering backs while he is used in the box and blitzing into the backfield.

 

I noticed that too, he seems like on some plays he's out there giving a half assed effort. I guarantee if Gilbert got a chance to play, he wouldn't be jogging on plays.

 

The way it looks is if he thought they just wanted him to call the plays and walk around

 

Exactly. That shouldn’t be tolerated. Makes me wonder what the coaches are looking at. After watching film if they do ,he should be benched for that effort. That’s inexcusable...

 

I'm with ya, put Ulysees in there. Shake **** up Tomlin you're 0-3. Don't let these players get comfortable in mediocrity

Bettis was a trade

 

We have tried to bring in a FA 2 years in a row and it hasn’t worked. Do we really want to draft a guy. And wait another few years until he gels with rest of D? If we are bringing Ben back then I say no!

Barron looked terrible all day and his hold late in the game was pretty blatant. He clearly let up on the deep pass to the fullback early on. He really does look lazy out there.

My one question is why Butler had him on Kittle so much. That's one of the best tight ends in the game. That is a terrible mismatch for any inside linebacker.

 

I doubt it was Cowher who made that trade for Bettis, he did have a GM at the time.
