Because it's more about the money than it is about any possible crime. She has yet to go to the authorities but has already contacted lawyers.

That's pretty interesting that she confided in the Chef and AB is also being sued by a Chef?

Proving a rape case this old is almost impossible to get a conviction. She'd have to have some iron clad evidence, like him bragging on tape or something.

These rape/abuse cases are about closure for women. Assuming it's on the up and up. Not pretending women don't shake guys down.

Why are you calling this a rape case? It is certainly not rape nor even sexual assault if she says it happened 3 times. I don't know any woman on the earth that would feel as though they have been raped or sexually assaulted and then go back a 2nd and 3rd time. I'm sorry that you cannot see this and sympathize with the so called victim who clearly is only after monetary reparations for events that probably didn't occur the way she is explaining. Maybe she is just late to the #metoo movement.

Yea, AB probably is an egotistical jagoff who got his way several times with women as proven by his past but clearly she has intentions beyond seeing any prosecution.

Calling it a rape case because she accused him of it

Are you even bothering to familiarize yourself with this story or just going or beat your drum because you don't like women accusing men of assault? Because you didn't come close to describing it.

No I'm not familiarizing myself with these most likely fictional accusations. I wouldn't waste my time on someone who continued several times to express interest in abuse.

Well, that explains why you and some others are coming across so uninformed.

The only information I need to know is this little fact.

She claims she was sexually assaulted 3 different times during massage sessions which she volunteered to administer.

Instead of going to authorities, maybe she thought it would be different the 2nd or 3rd time. Perhaps, he kept promising her dinner before he ran off to his next fling.

Its my understanding one count of rape...and 2 counts of assault. The first time he whipped it out in her presence and made overtures. The 2nd time he masturbated on her or her chair while they watched a church video......then she quit. She was talked into coming back because he said to he would be a good boy....then the alleged rape occurred.

I normally am not one to buy into the rape allegations years later. But 2 things seem to make this one have a little more weight.

    1) There is no doubt she is seeking money. Thats the only reason you do a civil case. I am really surprised Brown and his lawyers didn't just pay to make this go away. But that doesn't mean she was not assaulted. 2 things can both be true. Why come forward now? Well if you look at AB's public persona at the time of the incident. He had a few silly run ins with the law.... The speeding tickets...the furniture off the balcony. But he was generally considered a media darling and one of the best WR's in the NFL. Coming forward at that time would have been met with public opinion going "Doesn't sound like AB....Not the AB I know" But flash forward to now.....He is seen as unstable, and unlikable by everyone outside of New England. He burned down 2 franchises and was basically suspended for his last two football games. In the realm of public opinion. She is in a much stronger spot than she would have been 12 months ago.

    2) The fact that he sent her a text message literally saying "You made me feel like a rapist" Did he or didn't he? I don't know...but he did something...and it was something that made him feel like a very bad boy.

As for how the NFL handles it. I have no idea. I felt he should have been suspended for what he was doing to the teams he was on.

His behavior cost the Steelers one of the top WR's in the league and 20 million in cap space. He cost the Raiders a 3rd and a 5th....plus there is rumors he will still go after the signing bonus.

and he got what he wanted...and the Pats got what they wanted without having to give up even one draft pick. They undermined the entire trade system of the NFL.

Here is what I do.....I go to Ben....and say..I am going to trade you to the Bucs for 2 first round picks...then when you get there you burn the place to the ground...and when you get cut...I will sign you back and we will use those 2 picks to put a better team around you. Yes sounds silly....but it is totally doable based off the AB precedent.

I really feel if you get cut for conduct detrimental to the team or league...you should be suspended for 1 year. If not..I guarantee you see this again sooner rather than later.

Just to be clear. Time 1 & 2, he showed her his wiener and tried to kiss her. Not sure of the order. After #2 she separated herself from his for several months. After that time, he reconnected with her and apologized and wanted to work with her again. Time 3 was the alleged rape. Not sure where the jerking off onto her back fits in though. :hmm:

    **Edit**
I see that Hack has a better timeline. Sounds like 1 was the wienie and kiss and 2 was the jerk off

I'm sorry but you are wrong. I will tell you from personal experience that you are wrong. Victims of continuous sexual abuse and rape feel such shame that they bury it so deep that it is hard for them to ever talk about it. Then sometimes it can just explode to the surface and their world comes crashing down. You say no woman would go back a 2nd and 3rd time but that is wrong. Many go back and have it happen again and again because they are conditioned by their abuser to do so.

In the best interest of keeping this civil you are entitled to your opinion. My experience tells me that it's wrong. It's not my tale to tell so I won't share it publicly but I deal with it every day.

Florio was talking about this earlier. Im speculating here, but ABs ego is so big that maybe he's thinking there's no way Im giving her a dime and I'll fight it. But if he does go that route, he's going to have to go through discovery and Im sure she has a treasure chest of embarrassing things that are going to make him look bad, guilty or not. I'd imagine that there's an army of lawyers trying to convince him to settle and make her go away.

Whatever the case, the NFL is going to investigate and there's no doubt he's looking at a multiple game suspension, at least. IF the text that's been released is true, I'm sure that's enough for Goodell to give him some time off. If that happens, I seriously doubt that he sticks around in New England. I think they release him either when they announce the suspension or when he serves it. New England doesn't need the circus and if you see BB's press conference today, he's clearly already agitated and it's only going to get worse. I thinks it's a very real possibility that he never plays a snap for the Pats.

And if the Pats release him, this will be ABs last catch ever in the NFL........

The great irony in all of this is how Brown - with much glee - was retweeting people calling Ben a rapist.

I'm usually inclined to reserve judgement until all the facts are known, especially when a significant amount of time has passed before the accusation.

That said, I find her story believable. IDK if we'll ever know if it's TRUE, but it's certainly believable.

HOWEVER, if it is true, I doubt she's alone. Watch the flood gates open.

That's what happens when a guy is a free agent at 4 pm and you plan to sign him before 4:01 pm. The Patriots are getting what they deserve.

Still don't think the Pats will release him. Remember the Steelers hung onto Ben despite his two accusations. NE cares about winning more than anything else, they'll stick even with an NFL suspension should that happen.

Don’t blame Antonio Brown for putting himself first. No one else was going to.

    By Sally Jenkins
    September 10

The NFL player who puts his self-interest first is always labeled a little crazy. Why is that? Whenever a man bucks the ideology of team fealty, he’s painted as an unpredictable danger and a threat to the entire city’s infrastructure. Antonio Brown was the most reliably great wide receiver in the league for six years, but suddenly, because he exercised some canny self-determination and busted himself out of a lousy situation, everyone wants to know if this selfish lunatic can sublimate his ungovernable personality. That, or they think he somehow played them.

It’s never the degenerate league owner, or the coach whose hoarse voice holds the rattling of a thousand bourbon-soaked ice cubes, who is supposed to show some loyalty and discretion. It’s only the player. In this case, Brown wrested his fate into his own hands, outwitted all of those who would have shackled him to bad organizations and outmaneuvered all of the NFL rules that are about hobbling player movement in the marketplace by treating players like third-graders in need of a hall pass, to land with the New England Patriots. Good for him.

Brown is 31, with only a couple of contracts left in him, and he was tired of dealing with a punch-drunk balloon-head of a quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger on a downward-trending team in Pittsburgh. When the Steelers shipped him to a sinkhole in Oakland, he got a load of the chaotic sham-ism and dumpster igniting that Coach Jon Gruden and General Manager Mike Mayock call leadership, and he decided he couldn’t choke it down even for $30 million.

So he turned himself into the very picture of a malcontent, broke every rule of training camp truancy and violated all of the respect-for-authority norms in a league that is literally terrified of loose-change individualists until he was free and could take his pick of teams. Again, good for him. May he win a Super Bowl ring with New England and get his $20 million extension.

It doesn’t matter whether Brown is a complicated man — “this attention-craving drama queen” in the words of ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky — or just a supremely calculating one. Either way, I root for him and hope he wins in the bigger context, which is to own himself and not let this disloyal profession turn him into another disposable piece of hamburger in a fast-food wrapper.

That article didn’t age very well, did it?

Written by a woman who obviously is a casual football fan that only occasionally watches, usually around playoff time. Kind of like if my wife were to write an article (although I don’t think she’d side with Brown).
