While I know where you are coming from as he has flashed, I think most teams have that guy on their roster and teams seem to value developing guys they had in camp.

I could see where he sneaks through onto the PS .

No matter where you work, it seems there's at least one there.

My guess is that Hodges will not be signed to the practice squad.

It's pretty hard to keep a #4 QB on your practice squad given the nature of the other positions are usually much more prone to injury.

Darn it it's bad enough I talk like my dad, now I'm talking like Tomlin.

Yes it is. It is a great haul for a guy without draft pedigree who hasn't accomplished anything in the NFL. Kudos to Colbert.

Last time I checked, 3 ≠ 5. So how do you feel about the trade? :sign0011:

I'm glad they got good value for Dobbs. But it wasn't a 4th (when he was drafted), and it sure wasn't a 3rd.
And I stand by my earlier statement. Look at how many washed-up veterans were being recycled over the past few weeks.

Great! I was more target than most others. Mason could have been a 3 if he lost the backup competition.

To get a 5th for a guy who was drafted in the 4th and didn't show anything in his very limited game film after being in the league for 2 years is an absolute steal. Definitely see this as a win for Pitt. To me that's actually an increase in value of Dobbs since most teams seem to value a pick from the current year more than in future years. ie 4th round pick next year is comparable to a 5th this year.

More or less agree, Not sure I'd call it a steal. But if you drafted Dobbs in round 4, and they drafted your real future guy the next yr in round. You have unusable pick on your hands. You can't really keep him. Cut him and pick is wasted. Or get the best deal you can when you can. The Steelers did as well as they were going to do.

Mason wasn't a sure thing, even if the odds of him developing were better than Dobbs.
He might have never adjusted to pro speed, or had a fluke injury.

It's not like spending a top-10 pick in consecutive years (*cough*Arizona*cough*).
