This day and age, blame the 'other guy'. I'm old fashioned and believe you take responsibility for your actions. It's not Tomlins' fault. It's not the Steeler organization to take ownership.

Why is it so easy to blame someone else for the behavior of others? Makes zero sense.

This **** show further provides breadth to the assumption that he had to go. I too would have liked to get more in return for AB but the bottom line is the idiot tanked his value period. HE HAD TO GO!!!

Where would the detractors be right now if this same current report happened at the expense of threatening another player on this roster or Colbert, Tomlin, etc... ?

This is the path the sombitch was on. The team was sick of it gang... Plain and simple. Screw his talent he is a decisive divider! Appreciate what he did... Lot of nice moments and such within here but he ****ed it up and nobody ran him out of town other than his own sorry ass. You can't have that in a lockerroom at all!

So ultimately, we could've had AB here played hard ball and been pissed off instead of laughing at the same **** he was going to do anyhow and that somehow would benefit this team? Hard worker, stats, blah blah blah is out of the window and that's it.

He's a POS and a cancer and should be out of the league at this point. The league could get it right on this and build from it. Send a message and what not. The fact that they don't/probably won't step in on the issue regarding threatening physical violence towards a GM is not shocking but it would be nice if the **** they spew across many topics offered actual substance. AB's BS is only going to get passed on to the next idiot league wide clear on down to the pups in youth ball.

There is a genetic freak of an athlete/idiot in every county... But what should really be promoted and endeared are folks with genuine talent and ethic... **** these narcissistic punks who keep getting their time.

It does make you wonder if they hadn't signed him to a new contract if his behavior could have voided the deal. When exactly is it too late to call the trade off? Can you imagine the league and NFL PA having to decide what type of compensation the Steelers would have to send back to the Raiders if they returned AB to them after the draft.

He is trying to protect his client’s wallet. I wouldn’t want to have that job. If I read that article right, if they would suspend him for the year, they only are on the hook for a million bucks and the two draft picks they traded to Pittsburgh. That is increasingly looking like a bargain. More realistically, if they suspend him for the opening game, the money is no longer guaranteed. They need to do that just to protect themselves.

This would be amazing! What are the rules on that?

If they forfeit his bonus money, then does that come off of the Steelers cap as well?

That would be a win-win for them!

    Problem gone? Check!
Getting 2 draft picks? Check! (even though we wish it was more or better)
Problem proving it wasn't us? Check!
Gaining cap space back because Problem is an idiot? Double Check!

    Sadly no.

Pittsburgh would not recoup that money. Keep in mind that the Raiders gave him a new contract via the trade. That trade alone overrides that possibility.

Keep in mind Pittsburgh traded "Mr. Third and Fifth". Therefore, by trading him, they traded away the rights they had with him. He is Oakland's issue now, contract and all.

"which clearly supports my point" I see this pop up frequently in his posts, and then I wonder, "How can it clearly support your point and yet you seem to be the only one who gets it?" My conclusion, he is convinced he is smarter than everyone else.

I was waiting for him to tell me how this is all Ben's fault again...

    I'm not kidding.

He lost all credibility with me over that. And then when it was CLEAR AB was a head case and totally responsible for everything, he doubled down calling Ben a poor leader and bad teammate and at least half of what went wrong. Even went as far as to call Ben "two faced" when Ben - for the only time he even spoke in public about this as far as I know - expressed regret for daring to have any criticism of the Divine Goat Diva of all time (sarcasm mine). And for what it's worth: Ben shouldn't have apologized. It's not his fault AB is a fragile little snowflake. Everyone gets criticized fairly or not in life. Prove them wrong or STFU.

As to how his antics are going to hurt players trying to get guaranteed contracts? I said that months ago. But back then, you couldn't question St. Antonio. He had a legitimate grievance, and questioning him is siding with "the man."

Now you believe both organizations were stupid? Has this been your stance all along? Seems I recall you questioning many a poster's intelligence because we couldn't see as clearly as you how the Steelers were the big losers in this. In addition to giving into AB, you have claimed that the Steelers received too little compensation in this deal. I might have a public school education, but if I carry the 1 and add a 0 after the decimal point, I would have to deduce from your posts that in the AB trade Raiders>Steelers. If my math is correct, AB got his way = Steelers losing. Steelers not receiving compensation worth AB's value = Raiders winning = Steelers losing (this is advanced math). I guess I don't recall you mentioning where the Raiders also lost (or were stupid) in any of this...until now. Now after all that has transpired, your stance is, "Hmm, well, both teams are stupid!" What makes this even more comical is that you thank "Mr. Brown" (and his behavior) for supporting your stance that seeming only you knew you held. This is a stretch even for you to "prove" how right you are, or at the very least prevent you from having to admit that you might have been wrong. Have you considered a career in politics because, man, your spin is beautiful.

    As I have told a many the same. L Then again, when truly believing in ones own opinions to the point of attempting to pass their own ideals as truths, it does make sense that such beliefs cloud their judgement. To state my point again;

"To win means one teaches to those who have lost. To lose means one learns from those who win."

Notice how he's pivoted above, allowing himself an exit. He's moved from "the Steelers should have dealt with him by not giving in and forced him to play," to "the Steelers should have dealt with him a long time ago by disciplining him, and if they did they wouldn't have been in this situation."

I think we can all agree with the pivot, but that's not his original argument.

I loved the AB as a Steeler, was disappointed in his antics at times (especially leading up to his trade) and have hated all his drama this year. However, I am truly concerned for his personal well being. He has become so bizarre that I am afraid he will go AWOL and this turn into a Junior Seau situation. I am actually praying for his safety. Someone close to him needs to step in and save him from himself.

I also feel this way. There is something really not right and I think he is actually mentally ill.
While I didn’t like his antics to get traded he was my favourite player for years and I would never wish mental health issues in anybody.

That said I am delighted the Raiders are having to deal with this. I’m convinced they tampered with him prior to the trade and they were practically gloating about how clever they were to get him for pennies on the dollar. Also I can’t stand Gruden and don’t rate him as a HC.

Good call. I will say that I part ways with you (and other(s)) when forcing him to sit out until he comes to his senses. From a pure primal standpoint, I'd agree. Make the bastard sit if he wants to act that way. But my argument all along is that you've got to look at the larger picture. While it would feel good to break him and make him give in, the cost is too great. And that cost is a season or two, of a sideshow of endless distractions at a time, the twilight of Ben's career, when every second is precious. IMO you have to realize and respect the power that AB had in that situation (even though you hold more power and would win a confrontation) and cut your losses for the greater good. You have to realize that the short term game of winning the battle with AB could cost you the long term game of winning the war, that being a SB championship.

As far as Sharpe, he's been pretty fair. He's put some blame on Ben, but he's mostly been hammering AB, and hammering him hard since FB Live. And truthfully, Ben isn't a saint. He does say some dumb things, and to the myopic outsider, it's easy to relate the two....Ben saying dumb things and placing blame for this whole fiasco.
