At wide receiver most steelers nation fans realize...Smith-Schuster..Moncrief.. Washington..& Johnson are 53 man roster locks.
With a roster full of 'under' 6 foot tall slot receivers...maybe/hopefully this is the year Tevin Jones breaks through and sticks on the final 53 man roster.
    At 6' 2 1/4" - 220 lbs with 4.45 'straight line' 40 speed...however more important is Tevins 4.15 short shuttle 'change-of-direction' speed...for a excellent .30 differential...he has a 6'6" wing span with long 33.5" arms and large 10" hands...so he actually plays about 6'4"-6'5"...also displays a 10' 5" broad jump and 37" vertical jump measuring lower body explosion.
Also while Tevin was in college at Memphis St...blocking kicks was his specialty while playing special teams.
My opinion is the Steelers need more outside of the hashmark numbers... taller receivers to help balance the offense with height to challenge shorter secondaries.
So let's support Jones making the team with Switzer as the 5th and 6th receivers :)

He was close to making this team last year. STs will be his route to making this team if he does. Can he be a gunner may be the deciding factor.

He stood out to me at practice last week and seemed to get a lot of targets. I had no idea who he was and kept checking the roster to see who this #14 was that was getting all the playing time.

It’s interesting you say that, as I’d heard very little about him from other reports. Goes to show it’s useful to have multiple perspectives on camp.

Hopefully his number isn’t too much of a curse though...

It may come down to Tevin Jones or Johnny Holton and how both do on STs. Holton has that gunner background from Oakland.

That's like Griffey too, only thing I've heard was that his dad and grandpa were at family fest the other day.

Yeah, I’ve only heard negative stuff about Griffey.

Would like to see them try Tevin there tomorrow night vs tampa bay...I would think Jones can also become DHB's replacement as one of the gunners.

Yes Holton definitely has outside gunner experience...my hope would be that Jones can match holton as a gunner...because Tevin gets the nod offensively as a receiver...and he is also younger.

Living in pack 12 territory in Seattle...I watched many of trey griffeys arizona wildcats games...and never saw him or heard of him even be playing on special teams...as a receiver he was very ordinary without a unique standout special trait.
I would beleive Tevin Jones would clearly be preferred...over Griffey both offensively and on special teams.

The last camp report from Steelers Depot's Alex:
    - With all the injuries, a lot of chances for young guys to have their reps expanded and roles elevated. Tevin Jones has strung together impressive practices and got work with the 1’s today, even jumping into reps over James Washington (wide receivers rotate plenty so I wouldn’t take it as a negative for Washington but a positive for Jones).
