Not really. We need a high-spirited leader on the D that can back his mouth up.

Sure, but thinking a rookie is going to be making the calls after a week of training camp is .....

I’m trying to find a thesaurus so I can use the right word without being rude.

They are too worried about Hayden getting one? Supposedly Drew Rosenhaus was at Latrobe Sunday
trying to get a deal done?

This comment made me shudder because I think Artie should have been gone long ago. Let's hope I am wrong!

Well Ill be flabbergasted, I didn’t see that coming. Just seems like a lot to ask a rookie to learn, but maybe that’s the way to learn?

    I stand informed.

It's a lot, not doubt, but everything I've read about the kid, seems to indicate he's quite bright and a quick study. Let's hope he doesn't get overwhelmed.

He was calling the signals at rookie minicamp and OTA's as well. Kid is going to be a beast and it's just what this defense needed.

Vince did it too his rookie camp, was even lining people up.

Now add a player with Bush' athletic ability doing it and thats something to be excited about.

All the more reason Devin Bush Jr. has the potential to be DROY. There really is not much of anything stopping him. Only two aspects are health and himself.

Time of course will tell but so far so good. Cannot wait next week for game action either!! Sig. updates coming soon!!! :herewego:

Just because they went ape s**t and traded away some picks to move up to get bush doesn't mean he is going to be a star, have to see if he can handle the transition from college to the nfl with bigger faster experienced players who can make rookies look very vanilla......

This is how I see it going. I may be totally wrong too, but I can almost see the wheels turning in butler's head. Bush will be valuable in blitzes untouched up the middle like Vince and even fort was. Bush being faster however. This is the counter against Mayfield and the rasins qb, two guys who like to get out of the pocket. Against the run though is where I see his college tape coming around. Late to the party as the second or third guy on the tackle.

Barron should be valuable in the coverage game. Yes already fighting to get on the field full time because of butler. Butler has a love of knowing the defense and where to line up over production and play making. They also have so much money tied up in vince even though athletically he is lacking. I think Gilbert will suffer because of butler's love of vince.

It may take most of the season if history has anything to do with it for butler to finally send Vince to the bench as a backup and Bush and Barron to be the fulltime starters. Hopefully Gilbert can help in that rotation by then. I doubt Vince will be demoted that far. The speed difference is evident but butler is quite hardheaded.

This is JMO but I don't think we have ILB that are great run stoppers. We have 3 that can run, which may help them in that way. Vince is the enigma in this group but he knows the defense and that's too important to butler. The whole safeties as LB and LB as safeties thing is right under butler's nose but will be see it and use it as a strength is the question. Marcus allen and Vince don't fit what they want now. They fit what they were trying to do. It didn't work. They have the right guys now but Keith is hardheaded with change. We shall see.

Even if Vince remains the starter in the base defense, I think the plan is for him to be on the sideline when we’re in 2nd and 3rd down sub packages (which are used more often than base). Bush and Barron should be a solid sub package tandem. I think Vince paired with either Barron or Bush will be adequate in base defense, especially if Edmunds takes the next step at SS where he’ll be providing support to the run defense.

If we can get him off the field. Teams will counter with hurry up and no hurdles to take advantage. Vince shouldn't be on the field with the lbs we have just to make a spot for him. He doesn't fit what we are or should be doing. He slows this defense down and isn't that good against the run.

damn so much optimistic for Bush, and don't get me wrong I am optimistic as well, but I feel like death is chasing our optimism with puckered lips lol.

UMMM, I maybe way off base here, but I am pretty sure Marcus Gilbert plays for the Cards now. Doubt he will spelling any Steelers.

Vince has 13 sacks the last 2 seasons, I don't see them sending him to the bench. He played better with Shazier and if Bush can fill that roll I expect Vince to elevate his game again. Either way, they will value his pass rushing too much to regulate him to the bench.

only 4.5 of them last year. Bostic had2.5. Bush and Vince will not equal Shazier and Timmons. Our best hope is Bush and Barron. Then I hope Gilbert. At least eventually. The speed difference is and has been needed. Those numbers on blitzes shouldn't be that hard to reach for these guys with speed compared to vince. We need them to get an increase in the all around game, more of the total package that timmons and shazier brought. Vince just isn't in that mode. Speed needed to increase on this defense and it has.

I know it is real early in the season. But I can foresee a problem with our
current LB corp against teams with a physical OL and a physical power RB.

This problem can be rectified if our DL can hold there own or beat the man in front of them.
All you Vince William haters should realize that Vince is probably the best tackler on the team.
Yes his pass defense is suspect but he ain't afraid to tackle.

The Steelers brain trust (this is scary) must figure out the proper rotation of this defense
front seven thruout the year so when playoff time comes, and hopefully we are in them
that they can insert any of these players and they will be up too the task.
