I agree with number 1 completely. If they can get a 3rd rd pick for Burns, I'd jump on that.

Trades 2 and 3, I don't agree with. You aren't going to get anything for Mason who hasn't played a NFL snap and if you do, it will be a 7th rd pick. Not worth it for a guy who they see as Bens eventually replacement. Might as well keep him and see how that pans out.

And I'd trade Eli before Switzer.

Blast you know you linked to page four of 4 on that story right? I know we have 5 weeks until camp starts but this article makes little sense. Besides Burns the other two are talking trades for the sake of trades. I don't see the reason behind them besides stockpiling picks and giving up on draft prospects.

Who on earth is going to give a 3rd for Burns? Somebody will kick the tyres on him if the Steelers decide to let him go but for a 5th at best, probably a 6th. Steelers will probably cut him in the end so may as well take anything you can get.

I don’t see the point of trading Rudolph at this stage he is not costing much and has a chance to be very good. Let him learn behind Ben and see what happens. When the Pats traded Jimmy G he was in a contract year and had some impressive first team performances under his belt. He was highly sought after and the Pats couldn’t afford to keep him with Brady still on the roster. It’s a totally different situation with Rudolph.

One of Switzer or Rogers probably won’t make the team so yeah, trade one if there is a good deal on the table.

I read the article. While he makes a logical argument, some common sense says we can`t dump Mason yet. If Ben gets injured and Dobbs is starting, whoops! Besides, Mason has not had enough time to pan out like you say. The only question is Switzer who may unfortunately be expendable, but I think we should trade Eli instead. I see something special in Switzer. He is a tough competitor and still young. He may have not hit his ceiling yet.

The whole article reeks of desperation of trying to find something to write during the offseason lull. If this is the best he could reach for after all the media crap we endured earlier this year, then thank God for this desperation!

Most teams are at their 90 man limit, what team is going to give up anything for any of these guys? Before the cut, if Artie shows flashes in some preseason games you may get a nibble, but not much, Eli and Switzer are like 2 peas on a pod. I like them both, but the numbers game at that position will likely mean one is cut. Unless some team goes through a spate of injuries during camp, what in reality are you going to get in a trade. The waiver wire will be filled similar 'peas from the same pod' after the cut.

Who in their right mind would trade Rudolph when your other option is only Dobbs. Unless someone waves a potential high 3rd rounder or more at you his value is greater for the coming seasons. Are the odds great that either one of these guys will be an exceptional starter? No, but there is really little investment at this time to ride it out and see what develops. There are few quality starts in the league, fewer quality back ups. if you have your potential starter on the roster for 3rd round money, that is a good deal.

The Steelers have kept 6 WR the last couple of years on the 53 man roster. Four are pretty much set, leaving Switzer, Eli and the rest going tor the final spots. I like Eli, but what has he really done the last couple of year? Both offer pretty much the same options as a 5th, and will likely back up DJ as the return man. With other needs the team may option only to keep 5 wr on the 53. It really depends on who stands out in camp, depth at particular positions, and who excels at special teams. One of the WR in camp may become so valuable as a sp teams guy, or show more potential and Eli or Switzer will be gone. Like you I think Eli is more expendable at this point, but who is going to trade for a guy when you can just claim him off waivers.

No team is giving up a third for Burns, they would be lucky to get a 6th or 7th for him.

Colbert claimed that they had a 1st round grade on Mason. If this is the case why would he trade Mason for a 3rd round pick?

Truly the offseason. Not much I can honestly say about their first choice. Barring extreme circumstances, Artie Burns is likely to be on another team in 2019.

The other two I disregard. Bud is in a contract year. Even if Bud has a MONSTER first half season, Pittsburgh will have plenty of cap in 2020 to sign him assuming they want to. The Mason Rudolph trade needs no critque for me as the only aspect of that I could take away is Tommy Jaggi needs to critique himself a bit more as opposed to reaching for headlines.

Maybe because Colbert is good at taking 3rd round talent in the first round?

    1. I read where Artie was getting 1st team looks in otas etc so they are definitely looking to see if he is worth keeping around. If he has a down TC and preseason, then I would be on the phone. Just like with J. Gilbert, I think a 6th is the target zone.

    2. No effing way do you trade Rudolph. QBs take time to develop and the Steelers don't even know what they have in him yet. The QB room is really stacked right now with those 3. You hold on to that while you can. You especially don't trade him for a draft pick imo. You go player to player so you have an idea on what you're getting. But its still a big fat no

    3. I think Switzer and Ben are tight. I don't know obviously, but just got that feeling. I like Rogers too, but I don't remember him returning punts very often (AB was doing most of that). So I would give a higher value to Switzer. Rogers just signed a contract I believe so teams will know his cap hit when discussing a trade. Diontae Spencer has been making some noise in the early going so we'll see if that continues. Saints just took a flier on Rishard Matthews, if that doesn't pan out, I'm on the phone trying to get a 5th for Rogers.

All I know for sure is that only 1 of these 2 will make the team, but not both. Switzer's skill on special teams make him more valuable than Rogers. Both are slot WRs which actually may be occupied by JuJu. The 6th WR spot would be better served with either Johnny Holton or Diontae Spencer. The talk of trading Rudolph is silly ...never ever gonna happen. Since Burns is obviously not in the Steeler's plans, trading him ...the sooner the better. We got other guys like Mike Hilton, Cam Sutton, Brian Allen, & Justin Layne...

I am all for trading Burns but no way we get a 3rd, a 6th at best is anything at all. To much talk of Burns getting cut for other teams to give up a a 3rd round pick for him.

As for Mason well I like the kid a ton and don't want to see him go however like the article says the Cheats do this all the time. Now with Ben signing an extension and Dobbs looking pretty good why not explore a trade? If we can get a good deal we make it if not we keep a good player, jmo.

Switzer is a player who Ben likes so I see it hard to trade him. Now with Juju, JW, Moncrief and DJ we are pretty set at 1-4 so if we could get something for Switz and/or Rogers I would take it.

When it is all said and done I can see us cutting Burns and not getting anything for him and both Switz and Mason both on the team come week 1 and I am fine with that too.

The wr room is full of talent. The hardest part will be distributing them out to the rest of the NFL when cut.

If they can only get a 6th for a former 1st rd pick just 3 seasons into his tenure, what do you think they could get for a 3rd rd pick that has never thrown an NFL pass? A 7th rd pick would not be worth the upside he may have as Bens replacement. I would rather roll the dice that way.

As far as Burns goes, no, probably wouldn't get a 3rd but if a team feels we are giving up on him too soon and want's him, they may make a trade for him rather risk losing him to another team after he's cut. I could see him fetching a 4th.

Read the link they pretty much explain it, how the Cheats do it all the time. Like I said I don't want Mason gone I loved the pick and love the player but with Ben signed how likely is it he is gonna see the field on his rookie contract?

Yeah I agree a team my feel that way for Burns but I don't see a team giving more that a 5th at the best. What does it say to other teams when your former 1st round pick isn't even in your top 4 rotation? Time will tell, but at this point I would take an extra practice ball for him and move on but that's just me..........

Yeah, I posted it. No situation he described resembles Masons. He has 1 preseason under his belt, no NFL passes. Be lucky to get bucket of footballs for him.

By the time Ben finishes his contract you could have a guy primed and ready to go, him and Dobbs. Or maybe Ben gets hurt.

If Mason doesn't win the #2 QB this preseason, then I hope he is not Bens replacement when he retires. Dobbs shouldn't be that hard to beat out of the #2.
