    Agree on all,

    1. Lack of confidence
    2. Understanding of opposing offenses
    3. Can't change direction quickly (fast but not quick)
    4. Always tries to avoid contact along with bad tackler

Right now, he is just taking a roster spot and a matter of time before letting him go.

Remember this is the Steelers. They more than likely will prop Artie up again till he finishes his contract. Rooney's are aware of Artie's home situation.

Yeah maybe but no matter what happens Burns will have earned at least 7.8 mil over this rookie contract if that can't take care of his home life than I have nothing to say. It is time to move on from Burns and with all the reports on this there has to be some truth to it right???? Where there is smoke there is fire................

Perhaps it’s less a case of saving 800k, and more a case of saving 5-6 TDs.

Who has the Steelers released on their rookie contract? I'm talking high draft picks.

If Artie doesn't get his act together that is a steep price to ride the pine. We'll see what happens.

Jamain Stephens is the name that comes to mind.

Stephens still made the Bengals roster for the next 3 years.

And I don't see Burns being released for the same reason as Stephens:
"Stephens is infamously known by Steelers fans for an incident that occurred on July 30, 1999 the first day of Steelers training camp. That day, a visibly out-of-shape Stephens (he appeared to be 20 pounds over his listed weight of 330 pounds) failed to complete a series of 40-yard runs that were traditional on the first day of camp under Bill Cowher. He nearly collapsed after the 11th of 14 scheduled runs, then barely walked through the remaining ones. Cowher was so disgusted by this embarrassing display that he cut Stephens hours later."

Are you offering that as a reason to keep him or thinking 7.8 mil doesn’t go far anymore? :dontknow:

How has William Jackson played by the way? I know he had some injury problems earlier.

That was such a bummer. We had him right there and we were all so excited about it. And knew that the Bengals were going to take a wide receiver and then three receivers in a row went and boom, he was gone.

Would love to see Burns and Dupree finally wake up. It would be huge for this defense. Not going to hold my breath though.

Dupree played better on the other side last year. Burns...Would love to see him make a turn, but I'm pretty sure it won't happen this year.

You can't keep having his brain farts. When he's on the field everyone else is second guessing and trying to cover up for him. Makes the whole defense a half a step behind.

Depends on where his family living. If they're living in a dark blue liberal state like California or New York ...7.8 million is not enough

Unbelievably, Burns numbers are actually better than Jackson's numbers statistically. We know Jackson was on IR his rookie year, we do know the countless easy TD's Burns got burned for, I'm not sure how many times Jackson got burned...

Too much egg on Tomlin/ Colbert face if they cut a #1 draft choice. I look for him to be on squad.

Agreed 3.051 mil to ride the pine when we have other players here to take his spot, not to mention the 1.757 mil space we could free up on a team with only just above a mil space. People keep saying 800k savings but it is 1.757 mil savings.

Good point. If you had a really good job making 100k per year it would take you 78 years of working to make what Burns will make in 5 years.

He'd be the 4th CB unless he can beat Layne out for primary backup on the outside. I think it'd be foolish to release him unless his play continues to look as if he's just letting people catch balls with no fight left in him.

It's really a strange story regarding the immense decline of Burns. He had two pretty good years starting out. His confidence I guess is the X factor. Apparently it's shot. If that's the case, he's a liability and just needs released.

"If you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you."
Hopefully not being lined up opposite A. Brown will help Burns' mental state.
