Dan. Is this really not common knowledge among Steelers fans?

No snark intended, just surprising because I figured everyone had heard this by now. It's in his book.

My broker sent me a copy of the book but I never got around to reading it. I’ll take it with me for my next beach trip. Seems like a book that would go with a beer.

Dan was the man behind the curtain for our franchise's success imo. Not sure that Art 2 or any owner can replicate his greatness.

As long as it's not light beer even if L.C. approves.

Dobbs is on a 4 year contract through 2020, so he has 2 years left to prove if he is worth keeping or not, and the 5th year option only applies to 1st round picks..........

IMHO, if Dobbs is the #2, then Rudolph is no good. We can excuse last year, but if he has any shot at being a future starter, then he better be able to beat out a back up.

Only way to know talent is to give them an opportunity?

I second that and honestly if we could bring Dan back tomorrow it probably wouldn't matter much. Great men will always be great men, leaders etc... If nothing more than great just in their Respected trade and not in whole. The groups they employ or lead are forever changing just as are the times. And in that spirit so are the leaders. Sucks but it is what is and was what it was all in the same. Right and wrong ways to do things will always be right and wrong however, the excuse for and against either way multiply rapidly... non apologetically, aggressively and often times unfavorably. Too many special interests watering down common interests and affording multiple excuses both admirable and asinine across the board.

Everybody wants a piece of the pie but we can't agree on what pie, cost of pie, best setting for said pie or who slung it the best because some taster, maker, advertiser, shopper, display builder, etc... Never ends.

Personal preference has the stage common sense was given the hook.

P.S. WD 40 and fireworks were better back then too!

That was Marino's second season when the Steelers played the Dolphins in the AFC Championship Game. The Dolphins and Steelers were both eliminated in the Divisional Round Marino's rookie season, which was 1983.

Dan was the foundation of a lot of the NFL’s success during his tenure. Particularly labor relations.

Art senior played a major part when the NFL was in it's infancy. Two of the best things to happen for the league.
