This draft could shape up to be one of the best in a long time. I think Layne will make more of an impact than some think his first year. DJ, obviously know how I feel about that pick and like what they had to say about Sutton. Elvis nailed that evaluation and how he could be useful this season.

I loved our draft initially and I'm loving it, even more, when I think about it. We did a beautiful job of filling holes.

As I said, on paper, A-. Zach Gentry remains the oddball pick here. Here is hoping that he can progress rapidly.

I still believe that, among the Defensive Rookies, only Nick Bosa can challenge Devin Bush Jr. for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Unlike Quinnen Williams, Clelin Ferrell and even the likes of Josh Allen, both Bosa and Bush Jr. have more than enough support to increase their chances. Other players do not have either the sufficient support or might not yield the impact others are expecting.

Bosa has Dee Ford, DeForest Buckner, Solomon Thomas, Kwon Alexander and. Richard Sherman. That in it of itself is more than enough problems. Bush Jr. has. T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Javon Harrgave and Joe Haden.

It is bad enough when you have to worry about two transformative players who can change their defense entirely. When you add the other factors, that is where their importance is greatly magnified. Pittsburgh's defense, in my opinion, will return to the days of "Blitzburgh" as Bush Jr. will be one of the bigger reasons why.

Nothing was said about Snell or Gentry. I thought that was odd. :confused1:

    NFL network had us 26th.

I for one am warming more towards gentry. Never going to be heath but enough to help us out in situations. I think he will continue to improve and eventually be a #2 worthy option.

Didn't the Steelers defense lead the league in sacks the last 2 seasons, and break the franchise all-time record in '17?

When I say "Blitzburgh", I mean in more than just merely sacks. Devin Bush Jr. is a "Force Multiplier" in my opinion. Everyone on the front seven will benefit from him.

Again though, all depends on availability. Health is key here. Should he endure the rigors of a 16 game NFL Season, Pittsburgh could field a Top Five defense again in many important statistical categories.

I saw a guy writing on the Bleacher Report who claimed that Gentry was one of his sleepers to become a HoF-calibre contributor.

His argument wasn't that convincing, though...

Let's be honest as much as everyone would like a Gronk, Jimmy Graham type player or even the stiff arm from hell Vinny Mac, you can have a long and wealthy career in Pittsburgh by being able to find that 15 yard sweet spot that Ben loves and learning to block like your a bulldozer. I mean the expectations aren't hard to achieve.

Agreed. If Gentry turns out to be Matt Spaeth with better hands then I won’t be disappointed.

On the CBS Sports site, Prisco gave the team a "B". Same grade as 5 other teams, and better than 14 other teams. Higher than the Browns and Bengals

As did I. Maurice Moton was his name. Sadly, I do not have any information on what he writes. Seems though he is more so an NBA writer than anything else.

I like our draft. I really think Sutton may make a bigger impact than expected. Move him to LB, and I think he has the skill set to be very similar to Kuechly. I would be ok with that!

Didn't the '08 Draft get great reviews? Until the rubber hits the road, we won't know. The draft is basically rolling the dice. I thought the '08 draft was amazing at first.. and the '17 draft was a piece of dung.

I said at first... which means, "initially." I hated the '17 draft in May of 2017. I love it now... in May of 2019. Hind sight is amazing.
