TE Position

Yeah looks like he wasn't asked to do a lot of it at Michigan. From his highlights though, he doesn't look like he plays with much functional strength for his size.

 

Honestly, I thought the Steelers panicked and picked Gentry because Raiders took Moreau a few picks before. This is the pick that was a head scratcher for sure. He was the next best TE on their board?

 

They had Alize Mack in for a visit pre-draft and he didn't go until the 7th IIRC. At least Mack wouldn't look like the car salesman's super inflatable wavy arm guy running down the field like Gentry will.

 

Who was the TE drafted last? He looked like he had more upside. They should of double dipped instead of a OL.

I like this idea, won't cost us much, he's still relatively young and he's a good blocker. He would definitely be better with Ben throwing him the ball. Our running game would really suffer without a good blocking TE.

I remember the one he stretched out for to get the TD. Fumbles happen to the best of them.

 

Man that was ridiculous though. He actually tried to run him over missed it and knocked himself out of the ball!

Hell, a stutter step and the guy goes flying by and you step into the end-zone!

 

They never happen at a good time. AB fumbled, heath tried running a guy over and fumbled, the bus fumbled at the goal line, Conner dropped a walk in td and has fumbled, Ben tosses the ball to a d lineman, AB running out of bounds on the last play of the game in his second or third year on the way to a winning td. As I said had plays happen to the best of them. The kid has made some pretty athletic plays as well. Hope it was a learning experience for him. I think the kid can do some good things down the road for us.

 

Don't get me wrong I think he's been a really solid #3 and his blocking is a little underrated.

 

I have faith in him in year 4 and getting #2 reps. Ben knows who he is.

 

I know Steelers liked him, but he did absolutely nothing in Baltimore? I know in the Flacco era is was a place receivers went to die. Maybe he was still a good blocker there, but I'm not even sure he got on the field?

The Cardinals selected UCLA tight end Caleb Wilson as 2019's "Mr. Irrelevant."

Arizona took Wilson with the 254th pick, the final selection in the draft. He lead UCLA last year in receptions (60) and receiving yards (965) as a junior, the highest totals ever by a Bruins tight end.

 

I thought so on paper too. Why not take a chance in the 7th? Is all I'm saying.

Edit: problem is our frequent flier miles only got us as far as the Midwest

 

They should have drafted him in the 5th instead of gentry....

 

What happened to Bucky Hodges? I thought he was as good as Grimble.

 

It is certainly magnified because he doesn't get many chances, but also it wasn't a matter of Grimble trying to take what he thought was the best route to score. He knew that all he had to do was make a cut or stutter-step and he would have walked in. He decided to be a tough guy. He wanted the highlight of running the guy over. That much was clear from his comments after the game. It was the thinking behind the bad decision that made it so egregious.

 

I’m guessing he has learned that lesson. Having your name at the beginning of the news articles will do that.

 

They're saving him for the 25th century team

Yea, as I said I hope he learned something from it. In the heat of battle sometimes the alpha dog mentality comes to the top.

 

I don't mind alpha dog. I mind stupid. That play was stupid and costly.
