Kyle Rudloph's time might be up in Minnesota. I saw an article draft weekend that they may be open to trading him. They also took a TE in the second round.

Would you want Kyle Rudolph, and what would you be willing to give up for him?

He might be released, but might want to snag him before Patriots do? I think Gentry will be practice squad this year.

McDonald, Rudolph and Grimble would be nice, but it won't happen. Patriots will sign him.

I think his salary is too expensive for any team to take on. If the Vikes want to get rid of him, my guess is tha they’ll need to cut him.

I would love to have Rudolph but I can see him signing with more needy contender or taking a home town discount to sign with the Bengals. Tyler Eifert is way too injury prone and they need a TE.

They took a guy in the second round, don't think they're as eager for a tight end as you think.

The FA market is very slim, I would assume we scour the waiver wire throughout TC and preseason.

I guess I like grimble more than most. Rader from ysu also with gentry. We have scheme options if McDonald is out. Nix could help blocking and Samuels could help receiving.

I like Grimble as a 3rd TE - capable, low budget, steps in when needed. But I worry about the 2nd TE spot. I think you're right that Samuels could have a role there if needed.

Someone writing on the Bleacher Report had Gentry as a potential breakout star. I can't see it based on his reports, but I guess it all looks different once they get to camp.

I've seen a wide variety in the reports on Gentry's blocking. Even James Daniel said there is work to do for Gentry to become a good blocker, and those coach interviews at the draft are often a good bit of spin in support of the pick. I just wonder if he's going to be ready to block well enough to be anything but the No. 3 tight end this season.

That leaves the Steelers very thin behind a starter with a history of injuries.

That is my concern. Macdonald has never made it through a whole season w/o injury. While long odds of making the team the kid from Texas Am Trevor Wood is intriguing. He has little receiving abilities, but supposedly had tremendous blocking ability, plus is a long snapper. How good is his LS? Having a LA that can also be a contributor on short yardage and passing downs is really a positive. Frees up another spot on the 53 man roster for depth.

Good point on the roster aspect and at least maybe we can go a few more years without drafting one:hehehe:

Read something about Maxx Williams being available. Might be something worth exploring? Maybe w Ben he could be productive? Not sure of the cost but his stats are pedestrian, so shouldn’t break the bank. Thoughts?

Nah, that potential 3rd next year from le Bell is slated for either a punter or long snapper.

My problem with Grimble is, he goes for the hit when the duck and cover will get the score.

Grimble will always be remembered for his fumble against Denver, in a big moment he choked on what should've been a easy TD .

I saw his name when going through the TE FA list. He's had a career long battle with injuries and with our FA injury history I would be leery. Good talent if he can play consistently.

With the drafting of Fant, Denver has a lot of TEs on the roster...Jake Butt (two year injury streak though), Troy Fumagali and Jeff Heureman (sp?).

Someone will get cut from Denver or another team that they'll like.
