Snell was productive, a good backup. He had 3 consecutive 1,000 yd seasons and 48 TDs.

Good value pick. Would have loved TE or safety, but quality pick.

I am now beginning to think that they expect either Brian Allen to develop into a Free Safety or are expecting Pittsburgh resign Sean Davis. Too many aspects are adding up for one of the two. That being said though, Deionte is free falling so far.

    By someone who doesn’t matter.

The only rank that matters is the one the Steelers have.

i admittedly don’t know sht about college prospects, but why the hell aren’t the Steelers picking up edge rushers? Was hoping they were going to go back to focus on being a defensive power, guess not...

Of course....we have no true free safety and zero depth behind our mediocre starters... let’s draft a guy to compete for the RB3 position and most likely end up on the practice squad...makes perfect sense

I'm following along on the ESPN app and it has the player breakdown plus ranking on it

Round 4 has got to be Tomlin/Colbert’s worst over their history together. It’s essentially a wasted pick every year.

I am seriously wondering what our front office sees in our safety situation. Resigning Davis to starter money seems foolish to me, but it seems that’s where we’re headed.

You're full of crap, CBSSports has Snell ranked at 116, and as the 10th RB.

On the ESPN app it has him as 245 and the 20th back. So one of those is completely wrong

McShay, Kiper, Crabbs had them in their top 10 backs, Walter football as a 3rd round pick. Very productive back over a couple of years. Not flashy, but solid.

I like Snell's SEC production. But boy is he slow. He's strong on his feet but I'm not sure how that's going to translate to the NFL.

I would have greatly preferred safety (Thompson), but I don’t see Snell landing on the practice squad. Barring injury, he’ll get a number of snaps at RB. He jumped out at me on film when I was focusing on SEC defenders who were playing against him. He is very good at establishing forward momentum and plowing through people to gain yards after contract.

Agree. There are plenty of opinions out there from media talking heads. Just because one ranked him low doesn’t mean he’s a bad player.

Man.... I wish I could tell you! :lolol:

Not too sure myself. Perhaps thethe team does not see a Free Safety in this draft worth acquiring. I am going to assume both Tomlin and Colbert are leaning heavily on both Austin and Bradley do to some serious coaching in developing the secondary.

SteelCity was right. Colbert really must be swinging for those fenches; more ways than one at that.

I have no idea what they see in Davis. He’s a backup on nearly every other nfl team

Snell ran for 165 and 3 td's against the Miss. St. defense that had 3 picked in the first round of this draft..

He has all the physical traits you want in a safety, but his instincts are pretty lousy.

He’s here now so I’m rooting for him. I have never seen him play. I just don’t like using a 4th on a RB. I think we have more glaring needs at other positions on defense and TE

I will say this; Pittsburgh values production of their Running Backs big time from college. Benny Snell has 48 rushing touchdowns. That is a lot of production for a Running Back against some top tier competition.

If anything realistically, it almost feels like Colbert is indirectly giving the league an indirect obsence gesture. This truly feels like a throwback Steelers draft. That being said, for better or worse?! Time will tell.

My initial instinct was to not like the pick because of needs on defense, but then my mind flashed back to how much difficulty he gave the SEC defenders I had watched in my draft prep. He will be a tough goal line back and grind defenses down when we have a 4th quarter lead. He is tough and has lower body power to maintain forward momentum through tackles and tack on extra yardage. I really like the player even though I expected him to be available later.
