I picked Layne at #52 in many mock drafts on Fanspeak. I love this pick at #83!

There's always information fans aren't aware of such as interviews, but based on tape and the combine, it's insane that Chauncey Gardner Johnson is still available.

OK so I hate this pick too, sorry fellas.. With all the talk of defensive playmakers, they go with a guy with 3 career INTs.

    1. [IMG] Justin Layne*, CB, Michigan State
      Height: 6-1. Weight: 192. Arm: 33.00. Hand: 9.25.
      40 Time: 4.51. Three Cone: 6.90.
      Vertical: 37.5. Broad: 11-2.
      Projected Round (2019): 2-3.
4/20/19: Layne started out his collegiate career as a wide receiver before being switched to cornerback. The junior totaled 72 tackles with 15 passes broken up and an interception in 2018. He recorded 40 tackles with eight breakups and an interception in 2017. Teams really like his skill set with size, length, and some quickness. Layne fits well as a press-man corner and has some natural ball skills from his time at wide receiver.
5th rated CB on Walter football.

As a former 4 star WR, I'd expect him to be a force in creating interceptions. He isn't?

Good size and speed. Now, why did he fall so far? Just slipped through the cracks?

We need talent in the secondary. I'm not going to argue with this pick.

why do we have to draft all these tall "Project" CBs? Brian Allen hasn't done squat and now Layne. They just don't work out except a very few minority. Another WR convert ohhh great...

    We're both right I guess.

Analytically, Johnson was the 76th rated WR.

When they produced their big board, they had him as a top 10 WR and their #1 sleeper, although they said he shouldn't go until Day 3.

I actually thought the same damn thing lol.

I hope he plays well. lmao

Still with this draft, I'm glad they got Bush. For everything else, it's playing craps to find players at positions that are NFL caliber.

I mean, I hope that's right. Alot definitely had him as a top 5-10 CB.

I can sleep easy knowing that was a good pick even though there's a couple options I would have preferred.

Both Pratt and Winovich were available and Colbert selects a WR graded as a 3rd day pick. Ugh. We need LB depth far more than WR depth.

Bush and Layne should contribute so I’m down, but not wowed.
