Did Ed Bouchette Leave the PPG?

    I know he's not all that well liked around here but did he leave the Post Gazette? Was he let go? I see where he joined The Athletic.

    Was wondering if the locals had heard anything more about this?

    Guessing his time at the Post didn't end well, didn't extend and kind words or thanks their way.

    I don't read the Athletic, need a subscription and can't really see the point with so much free material. I know Kaboly writes for them.

    As Blast says, why pay with the free material on the Interweb? Writers for Athletic really push subscriptions on Twitter...kinda annoying.

    Wow, not surprised. Ed always seems grouchy, maybe he wasn't happy with what he was doing at the Gazette?

    Or...conspiracy theory...maybe something happened with all the drama with AB, and the Steelers didn't want him around the team anymore?

    The talent level at The Athletic is impressive, but I haven't read it, either. I also noticed that Bouchette didn't have anything nice to say about the PG. They actually grabbed three writers from the PG. I don't think any of them shared any kind words on the way out.

    There has been a lot of internal crap at the PG. I'm guessing it has a lot more to do with that than any issues Bouchette might have had with the team, especially given that he will still be covering them.

    Isn't Ed the writer who always predicted the first round pick and got it right more than he got it wrong? Or is that someone else?

    Yes, he is. I'm guessing most of the hatred around here for Bouchette comes from people who haven't met the guy. I've been reading his stuff since the '80s and I got to know him a little during my sports writing days. He was always decent to me and everybody else that I saw.

    Me either I read the Trib Review more since they don't charge you to read articles. It's bad enough I waste my time reading sports articles anyway. But your down right crazy if you think I'm going to pay a monthly subscription fee to read sports articles.
