JP didn't play that way. I don't see why he would coach him that way.

 

I would still take Dupree over a 34 year old Matthews at 8 million a year.

 

So how/why is it we didn't go after Jordan Howard?? Truly.. do we think that Jaylen Samuels can be a feature back?? Hell, Eagles gave them a 6th (could turn to 5th) in the 2020 draft.. and we couldn't give them the same type of deal??

Yeah he would start for the Eagles yes.. But still he could have been a decent back for us coming off the bench.. YEs he has been in the league for 3 years.. And yes we know Conner is our #1 without a doubt.. You still need that 1-2 punch in the backfield..

 

And we have that.

 

The current offense also includes heavy use of the running backs as receivers, something Howard does not do well. It's one thing to overlook that for a guy like Jerome Bettis, but Howard is no Bettis. I remember there were times that was a real issue when Willie Parker was the featured back. Teams knew he couldn't run a decent route or consistently catch the ball.

I wouldn't have minded the Steelers trading for him, but I can understand why they might have chosen not to pursue that option.

 

They are targeting the running back from Oklahoma State. Just to make sure Mason is comfortable .

Last time I remember using a 2 back system well was with Bettis/Parker. That was awesome. Now we just burn the wheels off our backs and come playoff time we we sign a tate. lol
