No, I'm not worried about JuJu. He played 3 games without AB, 2 of them good.

I'm not concerned about his performance with the circus that led up to that game plus no game plan drawn up for not having AB.

Actually, we should have some concern about Smith-Schuster moving into the No. 1 role. I'm sure he will be productive, but his job was a hell of a lot easier last season with Brown constantly drawing double teams.

You can't just look at targets to judge opportunity. If a receiver can't get open, he's not going to get targets. Washington played a lot last season and he wasn't getting the ball. Part of that was playing with Brown and Smith-Schuster, but Washington's production was remarkably low for somebody who was on the field that much. The kid has to get a lot better and I wonder if his game is going to translate well to the pros given that he doesn't really have great speed.

    JuJu without AB

Its been said many times that the Steelers enjoyed having two number 1 receivers. JuJu is only going into his third year, will get even better. Not worried about him.

The circus man that's funny, most people didn't know anything until a week if not more after the season. The "circus" did not happen until well after the season was over. I am glad you are not concerned Juju's performance and I hope he does step right in. However I sure the heck am concerned no matter what people want to think about AB those are big shoes to fill, and considering Juju was doubled teamed less then 1% of his snap last year(heard that on the radio) I do have concern. I do like the fact he will have help in Moncrief and Washington who I am not concerned about stepping up.

That's all great but saying he is a number one and being the number one are two different things. Time will tell how Juju responds and I am rooting for him cause at the end of the day I want wins and it don't matter who the heck gets the stats and scores as long as we wins.

What are You talking about? We were all well aware their was something going on that week with AB and team and even if we didn’t, who cares, the team knew! There is even a player saying he didn’t even want to play that game after everything that transpired.

JuJu performs like a number 1. His play backs it up with and without AB.
Not worried. Kid has obvious talent.

I totally disagree, there was stuff going on but the circus didn't start until well after the season was over. I also am not saying Juju isn't talented of course he is or else he wouldn't have had the success he has had. What I am saying is will he have the same success being doubled like AB was, I seen one game where he was and it wasn't good. Like I said talent around him will help and a guy like Moncrief and the progression of Washington will help.

    Worried about JuJu?!

I am more interested in James Washington's development if anything else. March 20th, March 26th and March 27th, all being Notre Dame, Iowa State and Stanford's Pro Days, will confirm whether or not they trust James. For that matter and, after seeing some of his film, A.J. Brown could also be in consideration pending on the decision to move forward with James.

Among the receivers within that locker room I am worried about, JuJu is at the bottom of my list.

Gotta disagree here with ya AQL. I think Juju is a very good WR but I am more worried about Juju stepping into the #1 role and the double team then I am about our #3 WR. My worries aren't based on skill or ability it is more on the situation. We are a pass happy team (70%), like it or not we lost one of the greatest players to play that position. With that said Juju now has to step in to a position he hasn't had to do before in his short good career. To be more worried about our #3 WR vs our #2 having to step up into a much bigger role shocks me. What a #1 WR is gonna face in a whole lot harder than what a #3 WR is gonna face. jmo

Most people would feel that your best WR going awol before the biggest game of the season would be a pretty big distraction.

So you're saying JuJu wasn't double teamed in those two good games without AB? I seriously doubt that, who else would they be worried about covering.

One of those games was a meaningless Week 17 contest against the Browns. I think you are overestimating the evidence in his favor.

Smith-Schuster will be good this season, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see his production decline a little now that he doesn't have an even better receiver out there on the field with him.

Its a small sample size, thats fair to say but still better than three goose egg games. Also, double teamed is double teamed, its never easy regardless the contest.

In the end, thats all Im saying, he's still going to be a good receiver. 1426 yards would be tough to duplicate even with AB so yes, a little decline wouldn't be shocking. I also would not be surprised to see him match it, as I said, he's just now going into his 3rd season, I believe he is still getting better.

He could be better next season and produce significantly less. I don't think he's going to be able to fully replace Brown and I don't think anybody will be able to step into the No. 2 receiver position and replace what he did last season.

The Steelers are going to have to use the tight end more and they are going to have to run more. They are also going to have to be better on defense.

Yeah I'm with you Ju Ju will be just fine. Will he be Antonio no. Will he put up the numbers he did this year.. probably not.

That doesn't mean he's not a good #1 receiver. He's just not Antonio Brown << how many players play to that level?

I also am concerned about James Washington. As much as I want to believe he was a good pickup with the 2nd round pick, I'm concerned he doesn't have the route running ability.

He as great hands and fights for the ball well. I'm pulling for him, but for some reason I'm thinking he's going to be a bust.

I hope the hell I'm wrong.

Keep in mind that it's pretty uncommon for a college receiver to blossom in the NFL as a rookie. Most of them come to the NFL with a limited route tree, and have to learn the NFL route tree, route combinations and reads (zone vs. man, etc.) for the first time. I think this season will be telling for him. I expect/hope for a significant year over year improvement.

You are talking about the WR who was on the sideline in his fur coat half the game right, I mean if that is awol I get it. I guess I must be remembering it all wrong cause I remember AB having a bad knee and reports were coming out that his status for the game was doubtful. I remember as the following week went on all the BS came out creating the circus with our team and yeah on this board. The hate some of you have for AB is just unreal. I hate everything that he has done and hope he never catches a pass again and would love nothing more than to see him fail in Faiderland. However what he has done here ON THE FIELD as a Steeler was pretty damn good.

Now as for them 3 games 2 of them came when he was a rookie in the final 2 games of the season. I mean Christ going by your standards LJ going 23/27 239yds and a td we will be just fine with him over Ben,

Come on Blast you are better then this you are pointing out 2 games on a rookie season, Juju was hardly on the AB radar for other teams. I get your hate for AB and maybe putting your hopes on Juju helps you get over that fine, but to not be worried about Juju being able to step in as a #1 over worrying about our #3 is stunning.

I mean I get it Juju only has to replace a guy who has only got 1200+ yards the last 6 seasons, leading the league twice in yards and twice in receptions......who else in the NFL has done that? That is my concern replacing that, not the #3 wr......jmo.:smiley1:

Yeah I'm not relying only on stats.

My primary concern is route running and obtaining separation.

You're right though he probably was thinking too much last year. Hopefully if he's more instinctual it will show up.

Yeah we have been pretty spoiled over the years with WR's and when one don't get popping numbers it is a worry. However there were many play makers out there AB, Juju, Vance and Conner hard to get one ball to all of them.

AB walked out on Wed practice and didn’t show up until Sunday cutting off communication from Thursday or a Friday until he had his agent call on Sunday. It’s the very definition of going awol. And then yes, he was on the sidelines in a fur coat instead of his uniform and playing. And this some how isn’t a big deal to you. Wow.

So let me get this straight, AB missed 3 games where JuJu was the number one guy and teams were saying who’s this JuJu guy? Never mind him, we don’t have to game plan for this nobody. I guess it’s ok for you to point out one bad game, a game that came during a week AB quit in the team (Tomlins words) but his two good games are irrevalent. Got it.

Hey NY, look at that cow over there.

No no, Blast, that’s a short fat horse.

OMG, are you serious you are not following what I am saying. Show me where any of this info came out BEFORE the game.....CAUSE IT DIDN'T!!!!!!!! Your point about the circus before the game is incorrect, there was plenty of circus after but not before.

NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala reported it was a dispute with Roethlisberger and that “His teammates expected him to play on Sunday,” according to NFL.com. This then leads to the following items:

    ✔@MarkKaboly

Was told this afternoon by a source during Steelers locker room clean out that Antonio Brown threw a ball near/at feet of Ben Roethlisberger and walked out of practice. Post-Gazette reporting Brown skipped Sat walkthrough and expected to play Sunday. He didn’t. @TheAthleticPGH

And for the record it is a big deal to me but that isn't what we are talking about you are taking our conversation into a whole different direction. This was originally about being more concerned about Juju as a #1 then Washington as a #3, not about what a jerk AB became after the season.........

As for your stupid comment about looking at the horse/cow, if you can't see the difference about a team preparing for AB or a rookie Juju then no matter what I say it won't matter. Yeah I am sure teams showed Juju the rookie with a back up qb in Jones one of them games the same respect they would of shown Ab.......please. Your hate for AB is blinding you of what AB has done his whole career, but I get it there is a lot of that here.

Like most here I respect your opinion but I disagree with what you are saying. I love Juju but they are very big shoes to fill no matter what anyone thinks and to be worried about it is normal. jmo
