do you think they are seriously interested or just trying to start bidding wars to jack up price? Where they getting salary cap space for this to even be possible ? Also, I know they picked up Duds 5th year option, could they still cut him to create cap space?

What about Houston tho? I know he’s old but I wouldn’t mind having him a couple years and dropping dud.

Here is the thing with Houston, at his age HD is looking for a good fit and that's with a 3-4 base defense team that plays to his strength. So the Steelers do have an edge but if he wants money more than comfort he will go elsewhere.

Aren't we paying Bud Dupree 9 million? If we sign Houston wouldn't we have to cut Dupree? What's the financial ramifications of that?

If they are they are keeping it quiet. Dale Lolly is the only beat writer that has anything on his Twitter feed about the Steelers not being done in FA

I know you can't have enough pass rushers but you can't have a 9 million dollar back up.

Or is Colbert/Tomlin cooking up a scheme to put Houston at OLB and slide Dupree in at ILB?

I'm still hoping they extend Dupree and lessen his cap hit.

ILB? Hmmm... how about TE? 6’5” 250+ and a 4.42 40.... I mean, if DHB can make the switch from stone handed WR to all pro free safety, Bud can make the switch to offense.

I would have to think that would be the whole reason to use 5th year option so they don't have to battle any other teams when trying to get the second contract ironed out

It's the only thing that makes sense to me. I just don't see how they can justify paying him 9 million for one season.

Bud may actually do well inside. God knows he's not helping outside by attacking empty space.

There is no way Bud would do well at ILB. He would be even worse there as he dosen't like to mix it up, play tough, and get off blocks.

Dupree could be traded, late round pick perhaps. Not sure if that takes away the cap hit or not

Would you guys give Nelson a shot maybe like a 1-2 year deal? I see the Raiders released him. 33 going be 34.

He'd be great in the slot if that wasn't crowded already but i think he will end up back in green bay, Rodgers missed him terribly last season. Since it's Aarons way now I'm sure he wants him back

Houston is like weddell could've pulled the trigger but didn't I wouldn't mind personally having him here but the money has to be more than right. Bud inside is intriguing, but the mauling he gets at contact is worriesome. Either or, not worth the 9 bills.
