I like Fant a lot but TE's do not make 1st year impacts. For whatever reason, takes TE's a while. WR will contribute more than a TE.

Butler too. Would love to have him.

Would not mind him either. The concerns about his drops seems a bit overblown for me. Those are not concentration based ones. Those are fundemental based. A coach like Darryl Drake will have those issues ironed out quickly. Add a gunslinger like Ben and Hakeem will begin to scratch his colossal ceiling early.

Heath Miller made an impact as a rookie. Eric Green was useful, if not great, as a rookie. That's not my issue. The Steelers have a starting tight end and Grimble isn't an awful backup. They have much larger needs on defense.

I didn't advocate to draft one.

And I'm talking recent history. I don't recall any big name TE drafted in the last few years doing anything.

I like this signing. Now we can focus on other positions in the first round.

They still could go CB at 20. They have to get three or four to get one who can play! I have no earthly idea why they strike paydirt with WRs but could not evaluate a DB to save their soul.

I still wish they’d trade up and get Nick Bosa, but like grandma used to say, wish in one hand and (censored) in the other, and see which one fills up first.
A good edge rusher suddenly makes your LBs and DBs better.

    Good post.

This is a good signing seeing the Steelers need at the position. They did report going after at least one other corner who decided not to sign for whatever reason.

It definitely looks as if the Steelers are targeting an ILB in one of the Devins in the first round with most likely trading up to get one of them IMO.

Just a little insight being from Hawkeye Country. Iowa TEs translate to good NFL talent and are usually NFL ready as rookies. Fant is the more athletic of the two. Hockenson is the more consistent of the two. Fant has a higher ceiling. Hockenson is what you see is what you get. In other words, both are primed to excel with Hockeson being less of a risk. I would take either one!

BPA Hochenson is better player than any WR at 20 Or use 1 of the draft picks to move up to take Devin White.

Thanks but I hope we aren't looking at Bush and I am not all that excited about White but I would rather trade up for White than sit still for Bush, and if we have to trade up for Bush I will lose my dinner! :puking2::puking2::puking2:

Well I know you said for now but I hope Burns is sent packing and we draft a guy in this CB rich draft. The guy I am now looking at is the kid from Kentucky Johnson if he lasts to the 3rd, I can't seeing us drafting a CB now in the first :(! Also isn't Allen listed as a safety now?

I watched Metcalf while watching defensive players from the SEC. No thanks. I think he’s as likely a 1st round draft bust as I’ve seen in this draft. Yeah, there are a few highlights here and there, but on a play by play basis he looked like a 5th rounder to me.

I would imagine that both of these scenarios are real conversations that Colbert and company are having.

Brown is by far the more complete receiver.

JMO but I don't want a WR in the first round mostly cause this draft is loaded in rounds 2-4 with guys at WR. My guy is Deebo Samuel in the 2nd or 3rd not sure where his projection is, but with our history of WR in the 2nd I am good there. Also I feel Juju and Washington have to step up to be 1 & 2 and I feel they can. It is no secret I am a JW fan so I have a higher outlook for him.

We need both LB's (but not Bush), upgrade at safety, depth at DL, a TE and yeah another CB. We do need another WR but not in the first.
