Darn. Always liked Jesse. Wonder if TE is higher up now on the draft radar

Good for them. I've always liked James and he's a perfect No. 2 TE, but Vance is definitely the best.

Definitely a draft need with McDonald's penchant for injuries. Not a big fan of Grimble now, I liked him in the past, but think its time to go younger. But I don't know, they kept old man rivers David Johnson for a long time, although he was a heckuva blocker.

So with Outlaw gone I think they look for the more complete TE as opposed to a move TE. I think that would pair better with Vanimal and Xman.

Must be grooming Jaylen Samuels for the position, after all he did earn 3rd Team AP Honors in 2017 as a Tight End at NC State (which is still a baffler to me at 6 ft tall.)

Wow Offense is taking a hit this offseason.
I’m still bummed about O-line coach leaving.

This sucks. I have been a fan of JJ since PSU. Detroit just got a quality player and a quality teammate. I wish JJ nothing but the best! He will be missed.

I didnt think he was all that but hes a solid number 2 te. He's far easier to replace the other 2 big offensive departures we had this off season.

What happened to testing the market? Did Detroit go overboard so much that a match wasn't even considered? I know JJ is a hometown guy and had stated he'd prefer to stay in Pittsburgh. Was it the Kardashian effect that pushed him away? Hmmmm......

Why don't they let Dud test the market?

It all adds up and now he has to be replaced. If McDonald goes down were in trouble....

A true professional in every sense of the word. Detroit will see this as well. I wish him nothing but the best. Wish he would stay but I can't blame him a bit for moving on.

Depth is a huge issue this coming season, and not just at TE.

we going to miss him, I don't think McDonald has made a whole season playing every game. Gimble is not the answer that JJ was.

Agree Dud should test the market, still don't see what they see in him.

Will be interesting, once we actually know the contract details.
(Funny to read fans arguing if the Steelers should have paid more or not to keep him, without knowing what Detroit offered.)

Sorry to see this, thought for sure they'd re-sign him. Wonder what Detroit offered him that was too rich for their blood.

True team player and one of the good guys.

    Good luck to you JJ!

yea that's makes 2 duds out 3 no. 1 draft picks at outside linebacker, Jones, Dupree the duds and Watt the only real no.1 player.
