The smart thing would of been to promise him you wouldn't tag him this upcoming season . We could of gotten him back for the last 6 games and it might have put us over the top. AB 8 Pro Bowls 4 first team All Pro's in 9 years. Consistently considered one of the best WRs in the league.

Ryan Clark 1 Pro Bowl. Zero First team All Pro's.

Yes Bettis was always considered one of the better RBs in the league, but he was never in the debate about being THE BEST in the league like Bell is.

Comparing Bettis and Hines to AB and Bell doesn't make them slightly better than average. I'll concede Clark, although I loved his style.
