Try to get a decent reciever via free agency. I have a feeling Washington is going to have a big 2nd year. BB is going to want to show (as AB does) that he can be just a successful without AB. With Vance, along with Connors recieving improvements, we are going to be OK. For the "See how Cincy game" offense went comments, sounds like a lot of players were just affected by what was going on and allowed it to carry over into the game. To me that W was never in question anyways, even with how poorly they were playing and we didn't know what had transpired during the week.

The Steelers are being laughed at by everyone now lol.. Ab pretty much made them his b****.. They trade him to a team with 3 first round picks and couldn't get 1 of them. It's pathetic

I'm not sure the Steelers had any choice in this, or at least not very good choices. AB made himself SO toxic that teams knew they could bid low to get him. I'm sure the Steelers tried to get one of the Raiders #1s from them but why should they? If reports are to be believed, the Raiders were really the only team still at the table even talking to the Steelers. So the choice was, get SOMETHING for him, or keep him and risk him pulling a Bell and being a major distraction the entire year.

I'm not happy about what we got either, but this idea that the Steelers didn't try to get more is laughable. As much as I wanted more, I'm glad the drama has moved on and the team can address its needs in FA and the draft. I don't think the Steelers are a better team today without him by any means, but lets wait and see what happens. This may have a silver lining yet.

Ryan Clark was just saying how badly the Steelers FO got played in this deal. I completely agree with him on every level.

A this point you are correct. Colbert has firmly hitched his wagon to Ben. Ben holds the key to Colbert and Tomlins future. Do I think Colbert went way over the top with his comments about Ben? Absolutely.
Can I honestly say I blame him? No. He could use a lesson or two on what choice of words to use in the media. My question is....how committed is our " unquestioned leader" to winning?

Let's see that commitment reflected in his next contract negotiation. Ben has "obviously " made plent of money from the Steelers. More than any current or former player. Maybe it's time he gives the home team discount:shrug:. That would show me leadership and a commitment to winning. Or is it possible those rules only apply to others?......(Brady takes 15 mil. .....just sayin')

Will someone please explain to me how this trade affects the Steelers cap. I've read that it will be 20+ mil, but other places that its less. If this really cost the Steelers Brown +20+ mil in cap space this year....Thats 2 good players in FA they can't get.

The Raiders got their first round picks by trading Mack and Carter. They weren't going to part with those IMO no matter how much the Steelers, or anyone else, begged and pleaded. Why would they? It makes no sense. If the overall thinking of Gruden and co. is to build up your talent base through the draft and you execute on that by trading your current assets for first round picks it makes no sense to turnaround and trade one of those picks for an older, more expensive, albeit more productive, version of what you traded away. It would have been a strategic 180 and a surefire way to go nowhere. Now they may still go nowhere, but at least keeping the firsts was consistent with their new strategy.

Cut your losses, I am not sticking up for Ben/ Tomlin I think they are both problems.
Steelers will be better off without all the individualism that has surfaced the last couple
years. The Rooney's are honest decent people and the Steelers will be just fine.

Not necessarily. If AB was still here the cap hit would actually have been 1 million more. Whether he was here or not it really has little to no bearing on the Steelers approach to free agency this season other than the fact we have a hole at WR.

Every dragon head we cut off, two more grow In its place. We will need to go at least to the AFC championship for this to wash under the bridge. Steelers need volunteers not "trade me for mo' money terrorists."

I would have given the Raiders our 3rd and 5th pick to take AB off our hands. Good riddance. Time to draft some high character players.

I'm happy with the two picks and that he's going somewhere that should have very little real impact on us. You can't always get what you want.

If Ben had been this quiet all along his reputation and leadership never would have been called into question.

All we need is the standard "non losing season " and Tomlin will get a extension for 3 more years so we can have.........wait for it.........more " non losing" seasons

Like everyone I am disappointed in what we got. But, a 31 year old receiver is not worth a 1st round pick, no matter who it is. Raiders may look smart now, but giving AB a new deal is going to haunt them. I have never posted this, but have stated for a while that I never felt AB would finish out his contract here. Before the end of it a decision was going to have to be made. Choose between an older AB or a younger JuJu. Letting JuJu walk in a few years would have been a poor decision.

This whole situation has been embarrassing as hell. Bell, Brown; the whole lot. They just became a cancer to the franchise, which is now a damn circus to other players and the media. You guys can act like it’s not a big deal, but this is a legit black spot to our legacy. Hopefully we can grab another SB soon and fix things, no matter how unlikely it seems. We still have a very solid core in place.
