Gotta give it to Chase Winovich! Definitely had to have a great combine and he did. Nevermind he is a techincan but has some athletic tools as well. I would not mind giving him a look in Round Three or even two if the board does not break out the way Pittsburgh wants.

Right now this pick for the Steelers #20, a ILB with some ball skills, also had 17 TFL in his career. 6'2 1/2 240lbs 4.57 forty.

Here’s the good news. You’ll both know for certain who’s correct on Burns’ draft position in less than 2 months. Personally I see him going just outside of the top 10, but before we pick at 20. Maybe Green Bay at 12.

Not trying to be combative here! All in good fun. It is all opinion based anyway.

Side note, could you give me a quick summary of how well Sweat did in the position drills?! My feed was acting up the whole time.

It looks like Kendall Sheffield injured his pectoral during the bench press, that sucks I wanted to see what he was going to run in the forty.

After watching a bit yesterday while I was at lunch with the family it dawned on me what a worthless stat the 40 yard dash is to some positions. I saw some of the QB's run and the running athletic ones wenthat all out the others just seemed indifferent to it. Like they wanted just the average time and would impress in the passing drills instead.

Byron Murphy looking good on the bench press! Hit 14 total. Ties with Jalen Ramsey from 2016. Major reason for this comp. is because Ramsey was a hybrid defensive back. Murphy is just a corner. Same goes for DeAndre Baker. He also put up 14 as well.

Chauncey also had a good bench; 17 total to his credit.

I haven’t watched his drills yet. Hopefully soon. I’ve been busy and have caught only bits and pieces of the combine so far. I don’t really put much stock in it anyway. I personally think the most important part of the combine is the stuff we don’t see - medical and interviews. Real game film trumps all.

I’m watching the edge guys, and Sutton Smith’s smoothness and quickness, along with ridiculous production, has me thinking that there may be a place for him in the NFL. At 6’0”, 233 he’s not looking like an edge prospect, but you can see the athleticism that allowed him to make 15 sacks last season. He may be able to move inside like Timmons. Gotta watch some tape on him.

Byron Murphy alleviating concerns about his size/stature. All over him at #20!

Gary Johnson, Justin Hollins and Cam Smith are some guys I thought performed well. I was impressed with Johnson in the drills and to be honest I don't know nothing about him so he is a guy I will be looking at closer. Hollins is my later round crush right now and last year I was high on Smith but he went back to school.

Andrew Van Ginkel, LB, WI, good explosion results with a 38” vert and 10’3” broad. Heck yeah! I’ll take that considering you also get that WI coaching/grit.

Yeah I thought the little I watched on Burns he looked pretty good. Here is a write up on him from the combine from USA Sports:

Burns was fantastic on Sunday, posting some of the best times at his position across the board. A 4.59 40-yard dash, 7.01 3-cone, and 10-foot-9 broad jump highlighted his explosiveness and quick feet.

Burns was solid through on-field drills, showing great change of direction and the ability to turn the corner, as he’s one of the best at doing so on film. He looked like a natural out in space and tracking the ball, illustrating the capability to drop back into coverage.

Burns already had some of the best tape of any prospect in the draft, so this combine performance should lock him into the draft’s top 20 selections.

Rock Ya-sin put up 18 to me that was big for him. He is a guy that started the draft process in the 3rd round range and has been rising since.

    Rock did?! Incredible!

All that remains for him his the 40 yard dash. Like Thorn stated, most positions really do not need the 40 yard dash as an accurate measuring stick of their future NFL Performance. Cornerback however, is one of the few positions that do; Safeties, Linebackers and Running Backs (this decade it seems anyway) being the other three I can name.

Should Rock hit within the mid to high 4.4 range, he is definitely a Top 32 prospect in my eyes. Anything else he does boosts his stock.

    Yep.

The 40 yard dash remains his only obstacle! If he can get in the 4.4s, he is a Top 15 player in this class for me. That in it of itself is a bit strange though because while he did have some issues covering some deep threats, namley Parris Campbell in the Rose Bowl, I did not consider those issues to be concerns.

True. I would not mind him either at pick 20. It all now depends on what Pittsburgh does in Free Agency. That should clear up quite a bit of any other concerns.

Jamal Dean and Amani Oruwariye looking good so far. I would not mind either as second round options should Bush Jr. be in play at 20. Plenty of good corners in this draft.
