Sadly you are correct on the tag statement. That does count against the cap. Even worse, that is even more dead money. My hope is that a team will bite but I am not too sure now.

I'm more concerned with brothers like him who came form nothing securing their future. Not a franchise that will make millions when that said player is long gone and away.

I don't consider AB's signing bonus all that large.

In comparison it is not. Based on his actions it is too big. By taking the bonus he made a commitment to the Steelers and they to him. Now he is trying to be nothing more than a common liar and a thief.

Please NO to Bell. Steelers can find a good free agent RB similar to DeAngelo Williams a few years back... to go with Conner and Samuels. Steelers shouldn't waste any draft picks on RB, IMO.

Late round maybe, or maybe a multi-skilled guy. Time for the higher-ups to think outside the box.

Correct but was he worth the money? Absolutely because he gave it his all and worked harder than anyone. Just like T.O.

Oh, spare us. The 14 million dollars he walked away from last year would have went a long way toward securing his financial future. No?

Not exactly. He still has 2 years left on his contract and therefore 2 years of bonus that he is trying to walk out on. No, he is not worth that part of the money.

Apparently teams have to pay the price for athletes that are exceptionally stupid and can't live on 14 million. They have to bankroll their excessive lifestyles and compensate their big egos as well.

Oh how I wish posts like mattered in the great grand scheme of things. It would enforce team loyalty, appreciation for an honest dollar and allow a bit more of us to be able to engage with stadium prices all the while still not feeling left out as passionate fan bases.

A lot of blacks such as myself refer to our own as "brothers".

Would have been nice but why does MOSTLY everyone try to earn the most they can if a set amount is considered enough?

There's no right and wrong in this. The owners are trying to hold on to as much money as they can and the players are trying to get as much as they can. Some seem to take it personal and are looking at the financial part from their own eyes and not that of a athlete. It's not like he's looking for 14 mil. and his peers are only getting paid a couple mil. He's looking to get paid based in his skill set . He is/was one of the top 3 backs in the league and wants to get paid based on that. It's a risk/reward. What seems like a lifetime of money for 98% of the world, in professional sports it isn't . NFL players have it the worst. I don't see everyone losing their **** over MLB and NBA guys making a fortune on guaranteed contracts. How about actors and actresses?

I'm not choosing sides. I'm saying to each their own. What price do you put on being brain damaged and or not being able to walk when you're 50? That's the question these guys have to answer for themselves.
I crack up when think about MLB salaries and particularly how the Mets were paying Bobby Bonilla like 20 years after he retired.....lol

The AB situation has made the FO rethink what to do with Bell. If I had a say, I would bring back AB and let Bell walk. As much of a headache he has become, AB is still one of the elites who works his rear end off to remain so. I can’t say the same about Bell

Get rid of them both. Steelers will be fine. Get back to thinking Steeler brand and not personal brands.

Yeah.... having a hard time fathoming the transition tag thing. Unless they already have some likely suitors it seems like too big a gamble. Perhaps one of the reasons is they fear he will not get signed at all if they don't tag him thus loosing their chance at a 3rd rounder in 2020?

If this were true, the contract would have been signed and done 2 years ago. He wanted to be paid double what any other RB was making, until Gurley signed his contract.
