I don't buy the theory of anti Steelers bias but thus does lend some weight to that debate. Faneca had a better all around career than Mawei as did the others as well. Seems strange not to have him elected this year.

It's interesting I got bored earlier and without knowing anything about the vote for HOF for Faneca was checking out some youtube vids on him. The Faneca energy was in the air or something.

The guy is in great shape losing 100 lbs, looks happy, and for those that watch the vid posted they'll see an entirely different culture back then.

Oddly a culture that Faneca states is a huge reason for the success of the team.

Time to back to the roots because they've lost their identity.

For anyone interested, Alan Faneca post football. Would never have thought he was a 320lb offensive lineman.

Reed is totally a first ballot, come on. I know he's a raven but he was a great player.

It also should guarantee Troy gets in first ballot next year. So thats one positive way to look at it :steelflag:

Champ Bailey and Kevin Mawae? Bogus.

And I would not give it to TyLaw if it weren’t for the rings.

I actually thought the post was sarcastic. No way Reed isn’t first ballot. He and Troy changed the position in this era.

The only question mark on this year’s group I’d have would be Ty Law - from memory his consistency wasn’t great over his career.

And Gil Brandt, but only because I thought he was already in lol.

I feel Law should be in he lead the league in INT's twice and is tied with Deion Sanders at 24th on the career list. I know just about every big game I watched it feels like Law always came up with an INT.

As for the Godfather you are right I can't believe he isn't in yet. I am a Sirius listener so they talk about it all the time.

    Kevin Mawae over Alan Faneca?!

    That is very intriguing indeed.

I really don’t understand their pick of Mawei over Faneca if it came down to those two.Faneca made first team all pro 6 times and 2nd team all pro two times in his 13 career. That’s 70 percent of his career being the best at his position or very close in both conferences!Add a Super Bowl and probably a first team in 2003 instead of second team if he didn’t unselfishly move from left guard to left tackle because of injury to the offense line. While I’m not debating the greatness of Mawei, he made first team all pro twice in 16 years at center with no Super Bowls. Can anybody tell me why Mawei made the hall over Faneca??

For Canton's sake they better. If Ed got in on his Firsr Ballot, so can Troy. Best player at his position during his prime. Whomever was a close second..... was not a close second.

Mawae is a center, in the pecking order of OL, Center> tackles > guards. Fair or not this is probably the explanation. Faneca will get in eventually, I'm sure of that, but the long jam of OL will have to clear. I expect Boselli, will get in ahead of Faneca, and they usually don't put more than one OL per year. He'll have to wait a couple of years.
