It sucks. As good as both Brown and Bell have been, they've turned into a toxic nightmare for this team.

Sad to say it actually is a breath of fresh air to think that neither one will be on the team for me. I understand Ben is not completely off the hook, but damn AB's handled this terribly. And Bell... he has the right to do what he did, but damn show some respect and communicate.

I'm ok with them cutting bait. I'd rather have players that want to play for the Steelers.

On a tanget from the original topic, but from what I've seen on tape, by far the Steelers have to go either middle LB (if one is athletic enough) or CB. The second round should get the latter.

And the third round, I'm seeing a lot of potential outside linebacker/pass rusher types that could work out I'd be eying on.

So unfortunately No offense. I'd probably look to get a solid veteran WR in free agency in the event Brown was traded. Also if Brown was traded, just use his pick on a WR.

I don't know a whole lot about Bucannon so I did some reading and I don't want this kid any where near ILB. Bucannon is a good talent and probably the perfect fit for what Tomlin is trying to do with his LB/S scheme. He was a safety coming out of college and I feel the fact that they made him put on weight to play LB changed his game. We seen a drop off in his play last year and here is a good article about him. If keeping Chick means getting rid of Bud then sign me up but imo we can upgrade both spots. And hey I am not worried about special teams we still have Danny Smith.......

I am a Davis fan he is one of the guys I was rooting for the Steelers to draft. I did't think he would go in the 2nd but after a good Senior Bowl he moved up, so with that said I would like to see him succeed. I know he has been up and down but I really feel like the scheme don't fit him, Davis can play the ball and is a play makers we just haven't seen enough of that yet. IMO he has the ability just needs th understated this system we are trying to run, but then again he isn't the only one who looks confussed out there.

I think you need to read that again ny. He fits our scheme perfectly. That's when he was at his best. He dropped off when they went to a traditional 4-3 and tried to make him fit that scheme as a true olb. He would be a great Vince replacement. Or the role fort was playing near the end of the season. I think Burnett will be replaced by allen this year. We saw him getting on the field late in the season.

But after some injuries and Bucannon almost being forced to put on more weight, he just doesn’t look like the same player anymore. Who knows the real reason we have seen this decline from him, but when you go from a starter playing essentially every snap to being one snap shy of a DNP on defense, it goes beyond just the defensive scheme.

To me that right there scares me IMO when have enough problems with guys that don't fit our scheme or scheme that don't fit our guys. IMO this is why we drafted Edmunds no need for another player like this, no?

actually no. Edmunds proved he can play SS. The spots we are talking about is Vince or forts later on spot. That is different from the Burnett spot. Allen is the new Burnett spot filled and bucannon would fill the vince/fort role but with better ability.

allen the safety/linebacker hybrid. Bucannon the move linebacker on the field with allen,Davis, edmunds, hilton, haden and our other corner.

So I took your advice and did some more reading and it looks like Bucannon's problems came when they tried to move him outside. So looks like your assessment of him may be spot on however like I said in my last post we have a guy like this in Edmunds. :smiley1:

I guess I just don't agree with that, as far as I am concerned Allen IMO is nothing more than depth right now and if we were to bring in Bucannon then we would have to many players and not enough positions. VW, Bucannon, Davis, Edmunds, Bostic, Hilton and as of right now Burnett. We need to address OLB more than ILB if we are looking at Edmunds playing the SS/ILB role, no?

no. Edmunds remains at SS. Allen the new burnett /take bostic off the field/ safety linebacker hybrid. Bucannon the replacement for vince/fort position.

You are much higher on Allen than I am that is for sure. So we then have VW on the bench, I wasn't a VW fan but he has played well enough for me to say VW or Allen it is VW all day.

Vince is a backup. We were terrible when he was in coverage. He also takes terrible angles in the run game. His stats went down from the prior year. If you noticed the last few games allen was getting on the field. He was a rookie. The defense was playing better with fort since he could move and allen was also getting snaps as the hybrid lb/safety. Burnett could of should be gone. Vince is a liability in our dime. He had 76 tackles on the year. Half of those were assists. He can't cover and can't play the run very well. The ilb has to make tackles. Beck fort in his limited play at the end of the year had 48 tackles. Vince played all but 2 games and only had 76. We need much more production from that spot. Timmons used to get over 100 every year. Big drop off.

I agree with what you are saying about VW but until we have something better he is our guy. Allen is not better I know you are and have been high on him but I am not. Yes we did play better with Fort however I will say this 2 years ago when Shaz was in VW was on fire. Blast is gonna love to read that cause him and I went back and forth on VW as I was not a fan much like you. I feel we need another guy next to VW, is it Bucannon IDK but I want more from this team than Allen starting. Especially with the group of S that are there this year in FA. Also like I said IMO I feel Edmunds was brought in to be that Bucannon type. Give me Boston, Iloka, Amos, Collins and draft a guy to go with Allen and Allen and imo we would have something.

I apologize to you because I could not disagree more. Davis hasn't been good....At all. He makes a lot of tackles but he misses a lot and he can't make an open field tackle and takes horrible angles in pursuit. He is athletic but like Dupree, and so far Edmunds, his instincts just aren't there. I give Edmunds a very small pass because of his rookie status but his coverage skills for a DB are horrible.

Davis is out of position constantly, I think he just lacks the game knowledge and it seems we have a lot of guys like that, Artie Burns is a prime example. Burns, Davis, and Dupree all have the same "athletic" profile with tons of potential but they just aren't good football players at this level. I really think the team needs to upgrade at the safety position, I think Davis would make for decent depth but starter, no, there has to be better they can get.

No apologize bud this is what it is all about bouncing things off each other. Some don't know how to do that cause their opinions are right no matter what but whatever, lol. I respect your opinion but I really feel Davis is a good ball player but like many that have come thru here the scheme has everyone confused and always out of position. Davis has ball skills and I don't disagree that he misses tackles and is out of position, but I really feel like coaching has a lot to do with it. JMO

I guess I like Davis a little more than you but I agree on some of this. He played a decent FS for us but I feel his instincts are lacking. I prefer Davis as a SS if we can find someone who is more of a true FS. Right now there is no other FS on the roster. FA and or the draft should be used to remedy that.

According to PPF he had 67 tackles, only 11 of them were assists. Of those, 33 tackles were for a loss.

And Vince is better in coverage than Forte. Forte allowed 80% completion to Williams 70% and Williams had twice the amount of snaps.

You're right, for an ILB, he should have more tackles, they can improve on VW. He was better when they had Shazier in there.

Fortes not the answer, he's worse in coverage, not as good at getting after the QB and not as sound a tackler. He missed 4 to Williams 6 and didn't have half the snaps Vince did.

ILB needs to be top priority in the draft and then Vince can go back to the roll he was good at.

If Allen's role is to take over as the 'Dime Linebacker", he's going to need a lot of improving playing up on the line. Was exploited last year. Think they need an actual linebacker to play in that role. Just run a traditional nickel.

More ambiguity and uncertainty from Le'veon Bell. Why am I not surprised. Playing games per his norm.

Loving the new pic btw. lost it. I hope AB stops embarrassing himself.
