Pitts should Trade AB to denver for Munchak and a case of gum for Danny Smith

If only his contract wasn't up. That is the criteria isn't it?

I believe Blount is one, another sold his shares to buy the Panthers, not sure how it all shakes out but they are very small parts of the team.

Munch will be missed and I'm not sure an understudy can fill those shoes, because he walked the walk and talked the talk. I'm more concerned with how the keep the locker room together. Butler is being pushed aside and kept until his deal is done, meanwhile a new assistant is hired to share responsibility with Butler but also with Bradley. You will have veteran guys fiercely loyal to Butler, guys like Dupree who will say anything to keep playing and guys with no loyalty beyond who gets paid. This is a powder keg if done wrong.

    That would be my strategy.

At this point, release Ben and go with Mason. Sure to get the #1 overall next year.

    I kid

    So....

    • The organization let its two best position coaches just walk away (Saxon and Munchak)
    • They keep most of the underwhelming defensive staff (minus Porter)
    • They retain a Head Coach that just seems to be going through the motions
    • They retain a Defensive Coordinator who is clearly in over his head
    • They retain a bumbling Special Teams Coach
    • Our overwhelmed DC will take on MORE duties (Porter's)
    • AB continues to dump Art II's books on every social media platform imaginable
Did I miss anything? This franchise has a culture problem. It's stale and out of date.

They need to change. The first mistake was not trading Bell away when it was clear he wasn't coming back. The organization let it hang over their head and set the tone for this s**t-burger of a season.

The minority owners can always sell their interest if thry don't like how the team is run. But remember, these guys are investors, not necessarily fans. I assume they get paid some dividend based on profit every year. And they benefit as franchise values rise, They're likely more interested in the how the business side of things are run, than the on field stuff. Also, they knew that when they bought in as minority owners, that they wouldn't have a say in how the team was operated.

This is encouraging. Obviously has learned a lot under Munch but good to see how dedicated he is, too.

Of course, there will probably be a press release tomorrow that the Steelers let him go. They don't keep the good coaches.

I usually don't get worked up about stuff this early/late in a season but I have to say to go from a guy like Munch who has a resume that screams he knows what he is doing to Sarret who the teams own in house promotional staff can only talk about his stints as an coach at Marshall and Duke and was a three year letter winner playing in college. Not exactly comparable or confidence building.

The Steelers will be just fine along the OL, it's not like those guys are going to forget how to play just because Munchak is gone.

No but it does mean that the raw recruits they continue to bring in each year will now learn from Sarret instead of the guy who has lived and breathed OL football for longer than some of us have watched the game. So we hope no drop off but if you start seeing turnstiles again when the starter goes down we know where the problem is.

Shaun has been with the team for 8 years, I'm sure he learned a lot from Munchak.

Agreed, but we don't have a bunch of young studs at OL. Those horses are starting to get older. I'm wondering what's going to happen with the next breed of guys that come in. We had so many years of having a terrible OL. I don't want to go back to that, especially with a young, unproven QB.
