The few comments are entertaining...Bengal fans are making fun of us...apparently this guy was awful and Bengals were on pace for worst defense ever when they fired him. We are a true dumpster fire of an organization right now!

Spent 4 years as Detroit’s defense coordinator. Was with Cardinals in Super Bowl against the Steelers. As well as with Ravens when they won Super Bowl.

His role is not as defense coordinator, so Bengals fans can suck it.

who cares. He did fine for the Ravens evidently, in the year they won SB.

And he's not going to be the DC, so basically he is a position coach.
As long as, they don't promote him to DC, if they fire Butler, I can deal w/ him.
But NO WAY do I want him as a future DC...

Well that's a little more comforting to know. I don't know the guy so I was judging by Bungle fan comments. Glad to hear he has some success.

Why are any of us caring about what the Bengals fans think. For that matter, why waste so much energy doing so?! I seriously do not understand.

If the Bengals fanbase elects to showcase their Inferiority Complex then let them. Makes it all the more humorous.

So the solution isn't better coaches, just more coaches. I don't know anything about the guy, but I will say this, too many cooks in the kitchen is never a good thing.

I can't believe Steelers fans actually read the Bengals message board.

Ha...I don't. The Bungle fan quotes were in the comment section of the Steeler article.

I thought I read somewhere that the Steelers have the fewest coaches in the league, so maybe a few extra ingredients won’t spoil the stew.

The Bengals have more 1st round picks I their secondary than we do and were still the worst unit in the league.

    Total farce.

He has Pittsburgh ties, they had to hire him. It's 'the other' Rooney rule.

Bengals fans are obsessed with the Steelers. Kinda like Heinzmustard fretting over the Cheats.

He will be helping coach the secondary, what's wrong with that?

The Bengals defense was atrocious last year especially the secondary. Before that he was with the Lions, not exactly a defensive juggernaut.

I'm not sure it will be a matter of more coaches. I think it was the Post-Gazette that had a story that the Steelers might have Butler coach the outside linebackers as well as running the defense, so they would add a second coach for the defensive backs and subtract one for the linebackers. The thinking is that they run so many sub packages with five and six defensive backs that it made sense to have another assistant along with Bradley coaching the defensive backs. Also, Watt and Dupree work as much with Dunbar as they did with Porter because they are ends in many of the sub packages.

So, if new dude is coaching the secondary, and Tom Bradley is coaching the defensive backs, what the hell is the difference?
