Looking at some of the free agents for this year. There are some good ones.

Steve Nelson from KC. Had a solid year.

    Ha ha..

Buster skrine? I wanted him a couple of years ago.

Fort. He has some decent stats amongst the inside linebacker available s. 28 tackles less than Vince with a lot fewer plays on the field.

Who are you thinking realistically? We should have some cash.

Well not sure about now but in two years I'll be rooting for us to lose every game. We have Ben for next season, he retires and we implode for a year then get that young punk QB from Clemson. Kid gets us 3 SB titles. He still has to wait 2 more years to be eligible for NFL.

Clay Matthews, OLB. Been so long in Green Bay I think a late career change would be very beneficial. Take any money we’d pay Dupree and offer it to Clay. Would also provide maturity.

Jason Verrett, CB. He’s been injured a lot (I think it’s him) so the chargers may not want to pay him. Could come at a decent value for a 1yr prove it deal.

CJ Mosley, ILB. Shazier’s draft mate would help shore up our defense and weaken the Ravens. Will be $$$$$

I’d keep my eye open for a veteran mature WR that might get cut, because the ufa list for that position is weak. Maybe Jordy Nelson. I think he’d fit extremely well with Ben’s style.

Doesn't matter who you bring in by keeping incompetent coaches the outcome will be the same dog & pony show each year. deja vu

Definitely on board with any and all of your top 3. I say no to Nelson because we still need another vertical threat.

Clay isn't the same player, not interested. Verrett is injury prone and small, no thanks.

That’s why we could sign both, because I don’t think either one will command much.

Clay is definitely not the same player he was 3 years ago, but we don’t need him to be. Borrowing terminology I’ve heard on this forum before, we just need a “Robin” to Watt’s “Batman”. He’s an old man, but an old man that knows how to play.

This is all assuming Ola isn’t ready/never will be. My first choice would be to just turn him loose, play him the Cowher talk to Gildon as his assignment: “rush the quarterback!”

ola is in the wings. adams was also paid more by the steelers to keep poachers off of him. we may be ok at this spot.

i'm more worried about a robin for haden and eventual successor. i'd like to see allen play more. we have to sign hilton too. i was thinking haden and skrine with our young guys.

how about golden tate? could he be a compliment to juju, eli and washington?

deone bucannon is another guy that could play inside backer in the sub packages.

    frostee rucker anyone?

Instead of paying Tate big money, spend that money on a defensive player. I would look into Bucannon as a dimebacker, he probably won't cost as much as the big time free agents. Rucker is too old, he has to be around 35.

i didnt think tate would demand big money. frostee still had 37 tackles last year. he's among the leaders of the free agents. a one year vet deal possibly.

Clay probably still gets double teamed for most of the time, as where Poo-Pourri doesnt and still stinks the joint out.

I think it would be optimal to sign the super stud that we're all in agreement we need. Short of that though, we just need an upgrade. And when talking about Mr. ABD, that's not saying much. I'd take Clay in a heartbeat.

YEP! If they're going to make any serious move in free agency, this is who it needs to be for! Weak MLB class this year...it needs to happen in March!

I’m also liking the Deone Buchannon talk. I think we’d have a spot for him. Not 100% sure on how his nfl career panned out to this point, but I know he was highly regarded coming out and has the height-weight-speed checked off.

Kevin Minter is also scheduled to hit the market and I liked him coming out of LSU.
