How many of the steelers free agents and practice squad players take a flyer on the Alliance of American Football? Jesse James has been feeling disrespected lately. Ramon Foster may find more money and years than a Steeler friendly two year contract. Eli Rodgers may like being a starter. Justin Hunter, gone. Could Tyson Alualu be a starter in the AAF? How much money will the AAF toss around for the right players? What kind of offer would they make to Anthony Chickillo to start and not just be a special teams guy? Ditto for L. J. Fort? Who cares if they lure Boswell away? Will the Steelers practice squad be decimated? Kion Adams? Lavon Hooks? Patrick Morris? Is Munch kept him around there must be something there to develop.
Tha AAF opens Feb. 2019 so they probably have there players lined up. But they still might try to cherry pick certain NFL free agents. This might be interesting.

Is this the Vince McMahon League? I thought it was put off another year. Time flies, maybe that year has passed.

You could say the same damn thing about every teams free agents. This is fantasy bs. What if, what if, what it, etc etc.

McMahon is running the XFL. This league is different.

I only saw this the other day because Hines Ward mentioned it.

No one who has a chance of being on an NFL roster is going to the AAF. The type of guys that will play for the AAF are guys who are cut in camps, older players that were never able to stick in the NFL, and college players who couldn't catch on as undrafted free agents.

I didn't know Troy P and Hines were so heavily involved.

So that thread on what happened to players like Polamalu and Ward has now been answered - they set up the AAF!

I'm quite interested in this league. They're promising fewer TV breaks, replay is only done on coaches challenge, and best of all the uniforms are supplied by the same company who made NFL unis in the 80s.

Doubt I'll be able to watch in the UK, mind.

Interesting scrolling through the 8 team roster - only recognized about a dozen names with half of those ex Pitt Panthers most notably Scott Orndoff TE (Orlando Apollos) and Donte Ford WR (San Diego Fleet). Only ex Steeler I recognized was none other than Brad Wing with the Memphis Express. Essentially will be full roster "Practice Squads" showcasing for the NFL, not unlike the "Football in a Can" Arena League did many moons ago (HOF-er Kurt Warner). Let the fun begin Feb 9!

I think we should bring Wing back in to compete with Berry next training camp. If nothing else, he provides us with comic relief.

EDIT: Plus, the dude is jacked.

Kind of like the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues in MLB spring training although Salt Lake and Memphis could be a bit nippy in Feb-April.

I saw the LB Garvin as well - didn’t he play for us?

There’s an NFL release clause in all players contracts so I think your assessment is spot on. Still, with Troy, Hines and Jared Allen involved it’s got a charm already.

I saw Brad Childress coaches one of the teams, Tomlin was his DC for one year in Minnesota if not mistaken.

Actually, the AAF will not be selecting any NFL players. They won't want a bunch union rabble rouser stumping for players union. Also they need to keep the players salaries down where they belong.
