At this point I really think he’s coming back for another year and I am beyond pi$$ed.

I can’t find his contract anywhere but I believe he has one year left (assuming he was given a 5 year deal).

I don't really care if they fire him but I will be surprised if they do. The defense was not nearly as bad as they looked to us at times. They ended up 7th in yards per drive. They were clearly better than last year and have generally shown continuous improvement under Butler (at least statistically) with the exception being in the aftermath of the Shazier loss. I'd be really surprised if Butler is let go. You should prepare yourself for it not happening.

They might have good numbers but they don't step up in key situations and give up too many 3rd and forevers for first downs

Need more splash plays too. We aren't going to unleash hell without flipping that turnover differential. Big Ben has them behind the eight ball consistently.

Keith Butler will be gone for good. There is too much evidence to prove otherwise. He bit off more than he could chew.

Find someone else. For that matter, not just anyone else. Find a Defensive Coordinator who can not only maximize the talent currently here but also place the players in winnable situations the same.

That "Horse" has spoken since January 22nd of 2017. Butler got exposed big time in the AFC Championship Game. He did not fix his flaws then. They have exponentially become much worse; Ryan Shazier's loss magnifying his ineptitude. Butler has had his chances.

He is finished. Move on from him. If not, expect more of the same; the likes of Devin Bush, Mack Wilson or even Devin White being irrelevant assuming any are drafted.

I'm not in disagreement with your arguments AQL. The Steelers could have him back next year to be honest with ourselves. Still a possibility. I thought you might have some inside scoop on him being gone.

    I wish! :lolol:

I only have evidence. Tomlin has the same evidence as I do. It is not about if Butler gets fired. It is when he does.

Butler is staying, we will fire everyone else we don't need to lol.

"In his 18th year as defensive Coordinator for the Steelers, Butler is praised by Coach Tomlin on improving from leagues worst 4th quarter comebacks allowed, to 31st in the league".

It does look like they are keeping Butler, after last years games against the jags, and this years game against the Chargers, it's just sad and pitiful, shameful what we put out there on Defense.

Still hope. Ray said in his chat that he thinks more changes could occur this week or next. Said after that, don't expect any as they like to have their staff in place to get ready for the draft/combine stuff.

Honestly I don’t think he’s a terrible coach I just think the lack of interceptions is scheme related. I would rather see more man coverage and dbs breaking on more balls. Although tomlin is a zone guy and it kind of seems like he has been calling the secondary plays and butler has been calling lb coverages. I think that’s why there are so many breakdowns. Remember last year when Harrison said more than one person was calling defensive assignments.

But it's also hard to do end of the season interviews with things so unsettled.
