I don't wan't to see him leave, but I know he left this line better than when he got here.

It is a veteran OL group. I'm confident they can still be successful.

It was reported that the Broncos would rather have someone with experience.......I hope that don't mean Munch....

Roethlisberger didn't play well in Super Bowl XL, but he was excellent in the three playoff games that got the Steelers there, so he absolutely helped Cowher get his one Super Bowl ring.

Yeah and lets not forget the year Cowher won was with the a QB who had the worst rating in SB history. While Cowher did win with a franchize QB he also found that QB, Tomlin was given it

For the sake of the records, for “found”, read “strong armed by the owner into drafting”...

Whether that matters or not, I guess is down to which particular Cowher/Tomlin argument is in play.

Good point. Cowher didn't want Roethlisberger. Of the three quarterbacks, he wanted Rivers. I'm not sure if he would have gone for another position if left to his own devices, though. Roethlisberger was too good of a value to pass up.

Yup, Cowher wanted lineman. Rooney didn't want a repeat of the Marino fiasco and stepped in. It's in his book I believe.

I’ve seen several articles mentioning Elway as a not-insignicant part of Denver’s woes. I’m not sure Munchak would see himself getting a “good second shot” under Elway.

Hopefully your right and it's true because Denver seems to be the most likely suitor. Reports are he is not interested in the Miami job . So maybe if the pull of having family isn't enough for him to choose Denver he may end up back with us. We need him bad. Not only for his teachings alone but also for the respect he has from his OL. We could use some respect for the coaches around here.

I know Munch will be virtually impossible to replace, but let's play the what if game. Does he have an understudy on the tram right now? A guy he's been showing the ropes so they could step in if needed? If he doesn't, shame on the Steelers. He wasn't going to stay around forever.

Munchak does have a assistant working with him on the Steelers, I think the guy has been here for a few years, so if Munchak leaves just promote his assistant.

I think it's more than likely Munch goes there so better get used to it.

FYI, I wasn't talking about how Ben actually played in the SB game that helped Cowher win a SB. Ben did help him win, he won 3 road playoff games to get the team there. I watched the game I know Ben sucked against Seattle. Cowher coached for 13 years before he got over the hump with Ben as QB, you Cowher apologists are tired, Cowher didn't find those players on his own either. Cowher didn't even want to draft Ben, he wanted to draft a freaking OL .

Keenum didn't help them much, they fired their coach and missed the playoffs.

Then why couldn't Cowher win a SB all those other years when he had a great D, and no franchise QB. So like I said Cowher and Tomlin both owe their SB to Ben .

I'm not trying to discredit Ben but there were plenty of games that were low scoring defensive battles that were won because we had the superior defense. Ben had some franchise QB type games but he also had some very pedestrian games that were won because of how stout our defense was. I'm not saying Ben wasn't a big part but he also doesn't win without some stellar performances from his D. I don't know why it's so hard to give them both credit. They don't win without each other:shrug:

My point wasn't how Ben played specifically in the SB against Seattle, he sucked in that game. Because we have seen Cowher struggle in the playoffs before Ben, that's why I give Ben the credit mostly. The defense in 2005 and 2008 were really good too.

Yeah I don't know. I admit my memory isn't what it used to be but even though Cowher had some good defenses. I don't think it was ever the caliber of what we had in '05 and '08 those were some pretty stacked defenses. I still stand by one doesn't win without the other.

Those defenses in the 90's were pretty good, they would get 50 sacks and be ranked in the top 5, led by Dom Capers and LeBeau.

Oh I remember at least that much:smiley1:. We could go back and forth with semantics but I think we are pretty much agreeing that both facets were equally important. You simply don't win with one and not the other. I remember those blood baths with the Ravens when our D saved the day plenty of times.

He does but wouldn't be surprised if he would be offered a job by Munch in Denver if he takes the job.
