Somebody already posted about him on here recently, no other team took him in the first round either.

If you would like me to say something, no problem. Allow me to state my case.

Here in lies the issue; the Colts have a competent Defensive Coordinator. Pittsburgh does not. Darius Leonard was played to his strengths. Terrell Edmunds was not. Most importantly, the Colts Defensive Coordinator understands how to use the talent he has. Keith Butler does not.

    Again...

It's a hard concept to grasp around here sometimes. Just in general....

Could of had Brady in the fourth instead of the great Tee Martin

    Seriously.

Give him a chance. No one knows how Terrell's future is going to be. Let us find out more before we bury his proverbial grave.

I know. These posts are beyond ridiculous.
Edmunds was forced into a starting role before we planned. Give him a minute.

Of course we'll never know for sure, but the point is that we seriously reached for him and we could have drafted him in the 2nd or at least traded back. He was not considered a 1st round talent

Here is some information after Terrell was selected:

People stated that we could have received TJ Watt in the second round in 2017 the same. Look how that turned out. Let us see what Terrell can do. As me and you both know, Keith Butler did him, the defense no less, little to no favors this season.

    Yep.

As I have said before, of 260+ prospects, roughly 8% are worthy of a First Round selection. The rest are either boom or bust.

    ....

    :hmm:

Now that I state his name, even in the event we acquried Leonard, I am not 100% certain that Keith Butler would have used him right either. More importantly, having a linebacker who specializes in zone covergae like Leonard being coached by a coordinator who puts linebackers on wide receivers in the slot would ultimately waste Darius' talents anyways. That being said, I am not 100% our fortunes would have changed.

In the end, it goes back to what has been said already; put the aces in their places. Keith cannot do that as many of us have seen. A competent coordinator could. That is the difference.

Leonard was more highly-regarded going into the draft. He is by far the better the better player now. It's not even close. Edmunds can still get better, but so can Leonard.

I am particularly tired of hearing the excuse that Edmunds was forced into a starting role ahead of schedule. He and Leonard are both rookies. One is an All-Pro, exactly the type of dominant inside linebacker the Steelers needed. The other is a rookie who showed flashes, but mostly played like a rookie. The Steelers made the wrong call. It is inarguable among the sane.

It’s not “if” we could of gotten Edmonds in the second round. We could of possibly gotten him in the third round some draft experts were saying.

Yep, very true. I'm not necessarily saying we should have taken him. It's of course easy to say after the fact

I don't disagree with any of that. I'm pretty much against taking a safety in the 1st round though. I don't care how good he is.

Really? The Chargers got Derwin James in the first round, he made All-Pro as a rookie . The Steelers also got Troy in the first round, and traded up to get him.

Playing at a small school is what most likely kept Leonard out of the first round.

If the Steelers had selected Leonard in the first round people would have been saying similar things about the pick. Leonard was rated as a late 2nd/early 3rd round player. He was rated higher than Edmunds but not by much. It is way to early to tell who the better player will be. I am going to wait a few years before I put Leonard in the Hall of Fame and label Edmunds a bust, or vise versa.
