I disagree, there comes a point when he isn't worth the trouble. They haven't won anything with him, so it's time to move on.

 

I don't see the contradiction at all.

My point was that Brown is a cancer just like Bell is a cancer. You only have 2 options, neither are great. Tomlin has taken the route to treat the cancer, not through what i would call medication but through emotion persuasion. In other words, use kid gloves on him.

I did say that Tomlin and to be honest, the Rooney's have kicked the can down the street hoping that Brown would as you say, grow up. Clearly they rolled the dice and as Tomlin said on Sunday, they made their bed and now they have to lay in it.

Tomlin does get some props for benching him, but that is the extent of it. Tomlin's and team managements refusal to deal more harshly with the cancer has led us now to the situation we see.

I find it more than more than coincidental that Harrison left over a rift with Tomlin. Bell is leaving due to personal issues. Brown has been a problem child for a number of years now. Not saying that other teams do not face these situations but it is odd that these are all blowing up on the team in just one year. Something is not right and it appears more and more like management is at fault here.

 

By that reasoning, they need to replace 52 of the 53

Given Brown's ego, I think you are spot on here. The key here is Brown claiming in reports that he "felt" or feels underappreciated. Clearly giving Ju Ju the MVP made him go off. Remember, the team votes for this right? So from Brown's warped perspective, the "team" feels Ju Ju is more important.

I totally believe that this is the fuel for the fire.

It shows you how full of himself AB is, he's also delusional, to show up Sunday and think he's going to play after blowing the team off .

 

You can't get rid of the whole team, it's better to get rid of the cancer.

The previous three weeks were darn close to playoff games, too. Roethlisberger followed the same schedule routine from the week before the game in New Orleans, in which he played his best game of the season.

Regarding the preseason, it is Tomlin's call and he doesn't just apply it to Roethlisberger. It's a bad practice, but sitting out Wednesdays during the season is not.

Regarding Roethlisberger's conditioning, the guy showed up in fantastic shape this season, but you are still whining about it.

 

No, they don't, but way too many posters here want to blame the messenger instead of focusing on the issues, so the media becomes a target.

 

And alienating teammates/ Coaches/Owner...Disrupting team chemistry...not have to show up..do want you want...

Yep, Sounds like a great plan...And it has worked so well...The ONLY one it has worked for is AB...The rest of the franchise is left picking up the pieces

 

Why when I have a opinion it's whining. That's the second time you accused me of that. I'm not one of your students. Have a little class in your responses even if you don't agree or atleast try to if you don't have any yourself. So he dedicated the last 2 seasons to being in better shape. That's his job why don't we give him the presidential fitness award like we used to get in grade school

 

I rarely accuse my students of whining. For one thing, they don't do it nearly as much as posters here.

It is what you are doing when you find such ridiculous reasons to complain. Roethlisberger followed the exact same practice schedule last week that he had before playing a fantastic game against the Saints. You're simply looking for any excuse to rip the guy. Maybe it's just that need to find a scapegoat for this season. Maybe it's a long-term thing. Criticize the guy for his turnovers. Criticize him for his history off the field. Both are fair. But criticizing him for not arguing when the coach gives him a practice schedule is ridiculous. Complaining about his conditioning, then saying it's irrelevant when I point out that he has improved greatly in that area just shows you aren't even interested in a logical discussion.

 

You may consider them ridiculous reasons to complain because you don't agree. Contrary to what you think. You don't know everything. It's my opinion and whether you agree or not doesn't mean you have to act like a douche about it....You get all PC when someone makes a joke towards you but then you constantly toss out derogatory terms yourself when someone's thoughts don't align with yours. I'm sure with your English background you can come up with a better word that better describes someone's opinions when you don't agree. Everything isn't as black and white and right or wrong as you think.

He is a reason for the season being a failure and other seasons our slow starts have come back to bite us. He is more than happy to take Wednesday's and the preseason off. By the way there have been Wednesday's he's deemed important enough to practice. It's not etched in stone that he doesn't or can't. I think in a must win game unlike any they played at any point of the season. It may have been a good time to put in a little extra work. Pretty sure it wouldn't have killed him.There wouldn't have to be any argument. All he would have to say is I want to play just like in Oakland. You put the blame squarely on Tomlin. Ben has proven on more than one occasion that if he wants things a certain way he will get it one way or another. Maybe by throwing guys under the bus which by the way is getting more and more scrutiny by some of the players themselves or maybe even by using his patented passive agressive tactics like threatening to retire unless Haley is sent packing. In essence holding the franchise hostage. Remember how Ben has earned the right to take teammates to task. You were one of those guys. Well guess what I'm pretty sure he's earned the right to say when he wants to practice and play if he really feels like it. Or does his being a veteran with benefits only extend to criticizing teammates and coaches?
I didn't say him being in shape the last 2 years is irrelevant. I said he doesn't deserve a award for doing his job. That's being the best he can be for a franchise that pays him a ton of money or do those rules only apply to others? I come from the school of leading by example. Not talking about it but being about it.
Has Ben always put the franchises best interest ahead of his own? The answer is no....so there is always room for critiquing and improvement.

Ben is a great QB. I have 3 of his jerseys. I'm not a hater. That doesn't mean that he isn't part of the problem with this team. He may be a small part but a part nonetheless. Like I said his criticizing of teammates is running thin in the locker room. If he would just be able to quell the urge to talk and talk without saying anything of substance that would be a great place to start in improving the leadership and atmosphere in the locker room. He talks too damn much without actually saying anything. I think he gets that from his coach. I guess maybe I'm just spoiled living in NY and being a Yankee fan. The biggest star in the biggest market in the world .....Derek Jeter....never had to say a word....just follow.

Edit: oh and his TOs could be directly correlated to his lack of preparation from taking PS and Wednesday's off.

 

Man what a complete crap show we have become.... Trade AB, get rid of Tomlin and just reset....We are just too far gone right now. Give JuJu, Watt & the young guys a chance to succeed.

 

I had always thought Brown was taking the Hines Ward path..... when the reality is he's turned into Mike Wallace and the young money crowd. Humble beginnings, spoiled by his own success.

 

No way. If you’re the leader of the team, the very LEAST one could do is attend practice. Even if it’s on a Wednesday. Maybe not because Ben needs practice, but because he’s the leader of the team.

 

He will definitely be at the pro bowl. He lives for those moments.
