Burnett and Davis should both be back. They can't replace everybody. Burnett played well when he was able to get on the field, including today's game. Davis made some huge mistakes, but he was better than last year. I'd love to see an upgrade, but they need to put their resources into a second starting corner, outside linebacker and inside linebacker.

Maybe or maybe not, but I’d like to see them in a different scheme. Look at Malcom Butler. He was really good with NE for a good while, but is terrible with Tennessee. You never know what we could come across.

I thought I heard on the TV post game show that the Steelers picked up the option on Dupree's contract. If I heard right then we've got him one more year at least.

Well, we know Tomlin isn't going anywhere. And I'm not confident all the ones I mentioned will be gone. At the very least I expect Butler and Smith gone.

    As per OTC:

The Steelers picked up Bud Dupree's fifth year option for 2019. The option is worth $9.232 million and is guaranteed for injury. If he is on the roster on the first day of the 2019 league year his salary will become fully guaranteed.

Definitely need to extend Haden. And Ben for another season.

Well they need to get him off the roster before the league year!

But I can see the writing on the wall with the egos not wanting to admit they made a mistake drafting him #1. Same applies for Burns unfortunately. This thinking in itself will stunt the growth of an average defense for another year. Add Butler to the mix and you will see the same. I wouldn't be surprised to see Butler retained

As a backup TE we could do worse and that position is way down the list of concerns. I agree, he's nothing special, but you know the PSU factor is why so many like him.

What I noticed about Edmonds is that the guy has no heart!! He doesnt initiate contact and he has never laid anyone out when he has had many opportunities. He had chances to stop forward progress if he initiated contact too many times to count this year and lets the player come to him. What I saw yesterday confirmed my assessment of his play. He had a chance to make a tackle but let Dupree hit the guy first. It seems to me that this guy is playing with business decisions and not with aggression or physicality.

Dupree will be back, but not at 9 million per season. I would like to see Alualu back. He’s a solid back up and he’s cheap. Matacavich and chickillo are probably gone.No real loss with either of them. They’re both fringe players at best. Hunter and DHB are nothing more than luke warm bodies. At one point in time an argument could be made for DHB due to leadership and special teams play. However, his stupid penalties cost us this year in a big way. McCullers will come back at the vet minimum unless someone like Hooks is ready to take the final step. Berhe was just a stopgap anyway.

A dominant enforcer type of ILB. I think the biggest problem with Davis is changing position every year. Hopefully, he won’t be moved again and will develop into the safety they need.

I'm really hoping to see Dupree have his option rescinded. I think Burns will be here until the end of camp and get cut unless they can't find anything in the draft or FA. Sensabaugh wasn't good but he didn't blow coverages like Burns so unfortunately he comes back.

Edmunds was a rookie but he didn't get any better as the season went on, I have hope but I see another reach that isn't going to pan out. I believe this draft will be very telling, I hope they stop using the athletic analytics to judge a player rather than what is on tape, if the guy doesn't have instincts and ability then athleticism isn't going to help much.

Washington yeah he is a rookie and showed some glimpse of things towards the end of the season.. but at the same time I don't think he was worth a 2nd Rd pick.. if you look @ some receivers that were picked behind him, I think we could have done just as much or better with Tre'QUan Smith (pick 91), Antonio Callaway (pick105) or even Gallup (pick 81).. Not saying he is a bust yet.. but I would need to see a different receiver next year for sure to change that opinion..

Nix.. Great guy, on and off the field.. but how often do teams really use a FB anymore? Yes he does great on ST but not sure if we really need him..

Hargrave.. i think he stays (just because I don't see us dropping him and McCullers) but I wouldn't mind picking up someone in the draft.. maybe rds 1 or 2..
maybe a R. Davis (Alabama) or Lawrence from Clemson..

Wow, man I disagree but I know this it is easy to say who would be better after the fact but I have no knock on Washington. As for Hargrave have you been watching the kid keeps getting better and better. I hate to compare cause he is a long way away but he is getting push just like big snack use to.......

    Hargrave especially, wow. :roflmao:

Washington has been showing signs of life finally. Getting a glimpse of what he will bring to the table.

Nix, how does anyone have a problem with him? That has to be because he "failed" to convert the sneak. Only thing I can think of and totally unwarranted.

I just dont think our D line gets the push we need.. If you look, yes we led the nfl (well tied) in Sacks.. But would you have thought KC was tied with us??

I am just not a big fan of the O line.. Love Heyward and Tuitt when healthy but we need some help... Maybe it was the coaching staff/coaching schemes.. but I am tired of seeing avg (at best) QB's destroy our Defense (Carr and Fitzpatrick)...
maybe its a combo of both our D line not getting pressure and our secondary being weak.

Heyward is not going anywhere.. He is owed a lot of money (14+ mil next year) and 13 mil in 2020... Wouldn't be surprised to see it restructured though..

Switzer may stay just because of ST.. I didn't mind him back on KR, PR duties.. he did alright.. more than DHB did

Not getting the hate on Burnett.

He actually has been the one fulfilling the Linebacker role that was taunted to be filled by Terrell Edmund's.

He was basically the nickle linebacker in a true dime.

He actually played pretty good against the Bengals in this role (remember the deep ball pass breakup?) He's been pretty solid with run support.

As for Dupree, there is a reason the Steelers have him starting over Chickillo. He is better than Chickillo.

With that said, he's scheduled to make 9 million in a 5th year option. I'd be looking around primarily in free agency for someone to put on the other side of Watt.

Not that I believe they will be available, but

    Dee Ford and

    Jadeveon Clowney

Are both scheduled to be free agents next year http://nfltraderumors.co/2019-nfl-free-agents-list/

I'd be heavily pursuing one of those two guys if they happen to not get tagged.
