All the more reason those players mentioned above should be gone in 2019, if their contracts are up none of them are worth re-signing

    1. Watt

Well Shazier injury impacts that, and the jury is still out on Edmunds.

My point is your not gonna improve big time but I agree these guys need to go and new blood needs to come in. We need guys that can play and we can afford......

Shaz is a sad deal but I always thought that pick should have been CJ Mosley. I don't see anything special with Edmunds and believe he'd have been available in the 2nd.

They should rip up that option before the nights out. What a Friggen joke.

I remember the days we used to lament who we wouldn't be able to keep
Now, it's who we can't wait to get rid of!

I would give Sean Davis another season. For his inagural season as a Free Safety, he did well. One of the goals from the 2017 campaign to this season was to reduce the deep passes. That goal was achieved as that number was cut down by 50%; 14 in 2017 to 7 in this season.

That being said, he has to improve in his ball skills. Hopefully another offseason can assist. Time will tell.

No way should they waste 9 million next year on Dupree, he can only produce 5 sacks a year.

They can put it 10 yards behind the QB and Bud will rip it up himself.

They can create cap space, maybe extend Haden for 2 years that will lower his 2019 cap hit. Also Ben will sign a contract extension this offseason, give him big bonus money to lower his 2019 salary.

You forgot Boswell. Now he could comeback next year and be the Boswell of 2016.

How about letting go of Butler and seeing if any of these guys are actually good but are in a terrible system.

Article I read seemed to think Dennard had played his final game in Cincy so he might be available to sign.

Haden will be back, maybe restructered, Davis, Hilton...Probably Burnett ...THAT's it talent wise! ALL the rest stink, stank, stunk...Burns, Sensabaugh, Sutton, Dangerfield, Behle...Allen, Who knows

    Cuts:
    1. Dupree: save $9.2 million
    2. Burns: save $1.75 million
    3. Gilbert: save $4.9 million (love to keep him, but he hardly plays anymore - too much $$$)
    - I don’t like Williams’ cap number, but there’s not enough savings to justify cutting him.
    - I’m torn on Burnett. He has made some really good plays and some mediocre plays. We’d save $3.6 million by cutting him. I’m leaning towards cut.

    Free agents not retained:
    1. Berry
    2. McCullers
    3. Alualu
    4. Sensabaugh
    5. Foster (his play seems to be falling off)

I try to retain many of our other free agents, and I keep guys like Sutton who are cheap and still offer potential. Also, while I don’t like Davis as a starter, I really like him as a multi-position backup because he’s played both safety spots and even a bit of slot corner in his 3 years here.

Agree except Foster...I thought I read somewhere ( maybe halfway thru the year ) or even farther that he was having a career year...no penalties, very highly rated ( however they rate lineman )

That being said..He is a free agent, getting up there, probably wants paid, and seems we have a legitimate, and much cheaper alternative in Finney

Get rid of Butler and those players , none of them are playmakers which we need on defense.
