I think not having Ben in during the Raiders game was the reason for the loss. This defense has shown they can only get so many stops in a game, and the later it gets, the less likely they will. Ben only had one drive that stalled, Dobbs had 4 (all of his drives). Ben came back in, took them 75 yards in 2.5 minutes for a TD. Play the best players available in today's NFL, short of a 4 score lead late in the game. Just my opinion.

Still really hard to understand Tomlins thoughts on that one with the game close. It wasn't like we were up 20 points.

Bengals now have 18 players on IR. This isn’t a team like Oakland that has talent and is erratic but can score points. The bengals are decimated. No way we lose to this team at home without Brown, Connor and you could throw in a couple more players. No problem.

Sorry man I disagree cause it wasn't like Ben was playing and scoring on every drive before he go hurt. Ben comes back in and gives us the lead, then the defense gives up another long drive to lose the game. Imo the Raider game is on the defense......

Ben's first drive ended in a punt, the rest of his drives went TD, missed FG, TD, TD, missed FG. Unless Ben is being held responsible for the missed FG's, every drive of his (except the first one) should have ended in points. Enough points to win.

I help the Browns today ... Run at Suggs ..Throw quick passes right behind him wherever he lines up ..Never try and block him 1 on 1 on the edge ...If in 3rd. and long never try and get it in the middle, just throw short or throw to the outside the middle will only create big plays for the Rats....

I was correct last week about using DHB on the outside the 1 play they used him the D got confused and AB was wide open, JW couldn't even get off the LOS ..It seems to me Coaches play a lot of Checkers instead of Chess ... We do what we do is all but played out .. What you need to do is force the moves the other Team makes , take what they like to do and attack it with the best plan and players that fit that plan...
Force them to adjust from what they like then go back and run what you like ...

Each week the O and the D should look different, it should also look different from one half to the next ...Is why I always said to use DHB at single high Safety some it gives you the ability to run a coverage the other Team doesn't expect you to run...Single High would have been perfect last week on 3rd. and 20 ...Again that's Chess not checkers you know your weak at DB then take your fastest Offensive guy and work him in at DB during practices just in case u want to run it....

I get what your saying however Steelers D gives up back to back drives of 14 plays 73yds 7:50 and 8 plays 75yds 2:34(after ben give lead back) which should not happen vs any crappy team no matter who we have at qb.

Are you a doctor? Didn’t think so. Unless you’re the team physician, or another physician treating these players, there’s no basis whatsoever for your claims.

The Bengals did beat the Raiders a few weeks ago 30-16 with Driskel at QB, and both Green and Eifert on IR. Every NFL team has the talent to upset a better NFL that goes into a game unprepared and/or overconfident.

When the offense can’t stay on the field, if affects the defense. Before the first of those 2 Raider TD drives we had the following 4 possessions w/o Ben: 5 plays, punt; 5 plays turnover on downs at Oak 42; 5 plays, interception at Pitt 44; 3 plays, punt. The defense had already shown signs of cracking after the turnover on downs by allowing the Raiders to get as far as the Steelers 12 yard line before forcing a fumble.

You’re correct that the defense ultimately lost the game, but based on what we’ve seen all season, and what we saw when the Raiders drove to the 12 after Dobbs’ second possession, why would Tomlin not see that we needed more points? He waited until the defense was gassed, and it was too late.

I get that and agree but let's not forget the INT went right thru a guys hands, you can't blame that on Ben or Dobbs. I am not gonna sit here and say the D wasn't stressed but come on man they are pro athletes man the Fu@# up. You get payed to play football be ready and in shape......we are talking about the Raiders.....seriously the Raiders......smh

That’s the kind of arrogance that led to the loss. It’s “only” the Raiders, right? You’ve just made my point on why Tomlin lost that game by being arrogant like a fan and not recognizing the need to do everything we could to keep scoring in a game where we only had a one possession lead. There is no “only team X” in the NFL. Any team can beat you if you arrogantly think the game is in the bag prematurely, and a 4 point lead at halftime is VERY premature.

No not true at some point you have to know what teams are good and what teams are bad, that is not overlooking anything. I also am not sticking up for Tomlin but if you can't beat the Raiders with the lead for 2 quarters......2 QUARTERS of football you aren't a playoff caliber team. It is not over looking anything it is plain facts.

Do you really believe this, or are you just arguing for the sake of arguing? We were already missing our starting RB, and the QB that we had in the game had a single pass attempt in his career when he entered the game. We were nursing a 4 point lead on the road a week after giving up a 16 point lead at home by allowing 26 second half points.

Any fan can see that our defense is not good enough to be trusted to allow less than 4 points to ANYONE in a half of football when our offense is floundering. It doesn’t mean that we don’t have playoff talent. It means that our offense, led by the QB who was riding the bench, is the strength of the team and the primary reason that we have playoff talent. When you put in a QB with exactly one career pass attempt, you can’t expect that offense (which is already missing its leading rusher) to help the defense protect a slim 4 point lead.

Frankly, asking any NFL defense to hold a 4 point lead vs. any NFL offense for an entire half is a tall order. All it takes is one play to erase that deficit. That play can happen on defense, or on a return vs. the special teams or against the offense on a turnover. The offense needs to contribute, and if you think you can just plug in a backup QB with one career pass attempt to lead an offense that’s missing its starting RB to keep scoring because they’re “only” playing the Raiders....well, that’s arrogance plain and simple.

It shouldn't, but the Steelers have a bad defense. We know it. Tomlin should know it. The strength of the team is the offense, which was pathetic during the four series with Dobbs at quarterback. They either scored a touchdown or moved into position for a field goal try on Roethlisberger's last four possessions. Tomlin's decision gave away four drives in a game the Steelers lost by three. It absolutely cost his team the game.

If Brown and Conner can play, they should play. The Steelers must win this game to even have a chance at the playoffs. Resting guys for the playoffs would be idiotic.

I didn't think he could go ...You don't have to be a DR. to know that a player whos best attribute is his hands and agility can't go with a hurting knee a week after the game...

Sorry I really do believe it and for all the people that keep saying how bad our D is/was I have this to say. We are so bad we held a team that totally owned us every game to 10 points. How can we hold Brady and the Pats to 10 but yet not hold down the Raiders for 2 quarters? Simple it shows our D can do it when coached right, so while you think it is arrogance I just expect to be able to dominate a bad opponent. jmo
