Win/loss records aside, Cowher took a mediocre team and made them great (more than once), Tomlin took a great team and made them mediocre.

Yet they both have the same SB record 1-1

I can’t remember when in the season the Cowher losses occurred, but the ‘18 and ‘15 Tomlin losses literally gave away control of our own destiny for making the playoffs, as did the December of Hell in ‘09.

A bit harsh. I give Tomlin a lot of credit for what the team achieved in his early years. 2 SB appearances in his first 4 years says that he did a good job back then. However, this team has been a talented, but self destructive team for a few years now.

I'm not sure they will even win this game, they have a tendency to suffer self inflicted wounds against the most mediocre teams............

I couldn't describe it better myself. What we are going through now is bad, but '09 was terrible (and embarrassing) on so many levels because that team actually beat several playoff caliber teams earlier in the season before the losing streak. Add to the fact, the '09 team had won the Super Bowl 10 months earlier.

If good teams can keep on humming for years, I have to wonder why owners bother shelling out millions each year for head coaches.

Which is why they lost 3 of their last 5 games and have not chance at winning the Superbowl.

How come Cowher only won 1 Super Bowl with that defense?

Going to a sb with Neil o'Donnell as your qb is far better than anything Tomlin did.

How many great defenses won multiple sbs without a good qb? All the all time great defenses were one and done. Only one you can really say won multiple without a great qb was the the giants in 86 and 90. But they had not only the best defensive player in history but arguably the overall best player in history in Lawrence Taylor. Guy won LEAGUE MVP as a defender and won the sb that same year. Unbelievable.

Back in those days you could get to a Super Bowl with a game manager type of QB.

The chance the Ravens lose to the Browns is laughable ...it is not possible, not even imaginable

I have won money on all but 1 Steeler game this season. And I just gave Atlantic City the last of my betting allowance. I took the Bengals and those 16 1/2 points. I'm positive the Steelers win Sunday but not by that big a margin. And if they look up and see the Ravens kicking the Browns ass they will probably lose their motivation.

I`m thinking the Cowher discipline/work ethic remained around several years before fading away to Tomlin`s friendly coach/low discipline approach.

I'd have to look it up, but how often do we beat a division opponent by 16+ points? Seems taking the Bengals +16 1/2 is a pretty safe bet.
